My initial review of dvd Barrys BootCamp Arms and Abs

I did Barrys BootCamp Arms and Abs -

Positives:

It focused on Biceps/Triceps ( some pushups in the beginning ) and Abs - - which is good because in the set of five dvds the other ones are: Legs/Shoulders & Back/Chest & Abs/Total Body/Arms & Abs - - and I was wondering if the arms and abs dvd was going to cram in a total upper body workout, thankfully it did not and focused on bis/tris

My arms were suprisingly toasted by the end of thirty mins. I had to drop down from my initial selected weight because he has you do reps FOREVER and makes you HOLD the contractions FOREVER as well. Nothing new in terms of exercise selected, but the holds for the biceps are awesome with the palms flat out! I am feeling it today!

The Cardio Segment was great - I chose the floor one, not treadmill -Think bootcamp style for sure! Burpees ( hello ) - jumping on and off step, ect - my heartrate jumped up there fast! Quick to deliver a punch in a short amount of time - great for an add on after a three mile jog or something

Negatives:

He doesn't give you ANY indication of how much weight to do or how long he plans on making you work a body part - but if I would have PREVIEWED beforehand, I would have been able to easily guage this ahead of time. I had to drop my weight selection a few times.

NEEDED more ab work

Overall rating of quality was ok - I thought the music a tad loud compared to his voice and his countdowns are all over the place - he is not Cathe quality for sure, but I can see myself utilizing this style of workouts in short 2-3 week rotations for something different and using the cardio segments as add ons for sure! the cardio really packed a lot of punch and I like the five day dvd split he has designed -

I will continue to post my initial reviews of each workout and I am doing these for two - three weeks and then maybe a week of slow and heavy to really change it up and then HOPEFULLY my new FOUR DAY SPLIT IS HERE!!!! :p :p

Thanks for the info. I got mine in the mail yesterday but have not tried them yet. Maybe soon if I can bear to not do an iTread once in a while!!!

I agree that there is very little ab work in this one. Interestingly, I think the hardest ab work is in Shoulders and Back--which doesn't even have abs in the title!:)
