My $90 shoes & my feet

Hello Everyone,

My shoes were wore out (Ryka's)which were a size 8. I have been looking for a new pair of Ryka Rhythm's but no store around had them. I instead got Ryka Breeze II size 8 1/2. They felt great in the store. My heels were slipping so they put in toe taps in the front of the foot and laced my shoe with a runners lace which both help for heel slip. That felt good. There was a thumb length between my toe and the top of the shoe. When I started doing aerobics this morning my feet hurt instantly. They hurt on the outside of my feet. I had to put on my old shoes.

Now I have laced my shoes normal and it seems to be better.

My question - If my feet hurt does that mean I have the wrong shoes? How about the runners lace anyone use it? I read somewhere there is no such thing as breaking in shoes. I don't really agree. I doubt I can take these shoes back.

This is somewhat frustrating trying to protect my body with good shoes and my feet hurt.

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom. Can't check your the forums until 7:00 CST. Grrrr.

$90 - OUCH!! And to have them hurt as well! I know when I've bought shoes in the past that are a half size too big I can't wear them for very long. Your foot slides in them, and even just a little bit of sliding can cause blisters and irritation. Good aerobic shoes cost enough money without having to deal with injuries from them. I've never heard of a runner's lace, so I can't help you there, but I do think all shoes need a bit of a breaking in period. But still, even when I buy new workout shoes (which I do about every three or four months), there is no actual pain when I wear them for the first time. I would contact the store where you bought the shoes and see if there isn't something they can do for you. That's an awful lot of money for something you can't even use. Good luck!!

Hi Winter, are you sure that you can't return them? The reason I ask is because I brought a pair of sneakers heck I brought a few at different times at Lady's Footlocker and ask them first before I brought if they can be return if my feet didn't feel right after a workout in the house of course and they said yes. I had to return 2 pairs because my feet didn't feel right or hurt and they did take them back.

Usually the rule is if you have not worn them outside, you can return them. I also think even if you HAVE worn them outside and they hurt your feet, many stores will still take them back. Good Luck!

If your feet feel bad the first time you wear them its only going to get worse. Return them ASAP! Aerobic and running shoes should feel very comfortable (maybe just a tiny bit stiff moving around at first but still very comfortable standing).

Hi,

I've found that when I tie my shoe too tight over the top(arch area) of my foot, that the side of my foot hurts. I've had to fine tune my tying so that my heel won't slip, BUT my feet don't hurt.

I've actually put dots of ink on the lace just after it comes out of the hole, so that I always know how hard to pull the laces(when you see the dot, stop!)

Silly I know but I got so tired of having to stop my work out to adjust my laces when my foot would hurt!

I agree though with everyone else if you can't achieve the proper fit with adjusting your laces, RETURN THEM!!
