Minneapolis bicycling info

This is a really late request for help. We are going to Minnesota and will be in Minneapolis for just 1.5 days. We want to cycle around the Chain of Lakes. Is anyone out there familiar with this area? I found a place, Calhoun Rental, that says they are very close to the lakes. They don't open til 10:00!!! Half the day is gone by then as we have to be back to the airport by 6:00pm. But anyway, we would like to ride rented bikes and see and do whatever there is do see and do by bike around the lakes.

Anybody have a clue?

she should be able to help you but she may be on a mtb trip. if she doesn't see this in time check out IMBA which is the Int'l Mtn Bike Assoc. if it's mtn biking you want. best bet may be to call the LBS in the area & ask someone there.

This reply may be too late, but if not, if you go to the Calhoun Rental for the bikes, Lake Calhoun is not very far from there and I am sure that they will give you maps of the Lakes and they all loop around in a chain. I would check on and see if Lake Harriett rents bikes for biking and we also have a program called nice ride around many areas in Minneapolis where you just put in a small amount and take the bike for the rest of the day, I think it may be like a credit card or debit card system. Either way, the lakes are beautiful, you will love the scenery and I hope you have a good time!
