Mindy Mylrea's All About Abs anyone?

I was wondering if this DVD is worth getting. I've never tried Mindy Mylrea's DVDs, but I know her workouts are advanced and some of you like her. Should I get this one? Thanks in advance.

I have "All About Abs", and I've only done her floor routine once; I have not tried her med ball or stability ball routines.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. I did feel like the floor routine looked harder than it was, but maybe I wasn't doing it correctly. The med ball routine was very, very non-traditional.

IMHO, if you're considering getting it, get it from Collage Video; they have a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy even for opened DVDs, and all you'll be out is the return shipping if you decide you don't like it.

Just in passing, I have several other cardio routines of Mindy's (including Awesome Intervals, Interval Express / Action-Packed Cardio, Cardio Toolbox and Kickbutt Boot Camp), and while they are certainly not in the same league as Cathe's, they're the seconds I reach for when I need a bit of a break.

IMO, this is one tough DVD. If you want challenging, this is for you. I have done the sections with the medicine ball, stability ball, and no equipment. As Aquajock said, the moves a very non-traditional. They are really more core-focused as opposed to working mainly the abs with crunches, etc.

I like the way the med ball one starts out, but then it gets super tough, doing planks and pushups with your hands on the med ball and some other stuff I didn't even try. (My neck is kind of messed up, so I'm pretty cautious about exercises that could torque it if I move funny.)

In the stability ball portion, she does planks, etc. with her hands on the stability ball. Talk about trying to keep your balance! These were rather overwhelming workouts to me, so I'm going to stick with trying to master the one with no-equipment til I get the guts to try the others again.

This DVD and All About Legs were my first Mindy workouts, so I didn't know what to expect from her. I guess all in all I was kind of disappointed. I don't mind something challenging, but I was actually afraid of hurting myself by falling off the ball. Do I sound like a wuss? Anyway, I like Cathe's Core Max better.

Aqua, very interesting points. I have Mindy's "All About Legs" and "Kick Butt Bootcamp." I was considering "All About Abs" just for the non-traditional core work; traditional crunches and stuff invariably leave me with a really sore neck. Let us know what you think when you try the other workouts!

I hated it. While *some* moves were fairly challenging, they didn't last nearly long enough, and then you'd move to something utterly ridiculous and ineffective. The background crew was ill-prepared, and often screwed up, which REALLY bothered me, and Mindy is annoying as all hell. She's either incredibly nervous and has to fill ever second with mindless chatter, or she just doesn't know how to cue form pointers. While her background exercisers are dropping the med ball, or falling over, you'd think that would be the perfect time for a form pointer, no? There isn't one to be heard.

I did like the body weight segment somewhat, but that was it out of the 4. I'm annoyed that I bought it - total waste of $20.

I agree with Melissa totally. I really didn't care for it. I will sell it and the Leg one too. Not for me I guess.

I don't know about this one now. Thank you very much for all your replies! I'm going to get Hardcore Extreme from Collage and I wanted another DVD, but I'll save the money now and wait until I read more about this one. From what I read, I think some of the moves are not safe. One thing is to make a challenging DVD and the other one is to do unsafe moves. Some of these moves I'd try if I had somebody supervising (like a trainer at the gym), but not at home while I workout on my own. I'm too clumsy.

By the way, I almost forgot to ask. I would like to know how heavy is the medicine ball that Mindy uses. I only have one 8lb medicine ball and to get another one would be an added expense. Thank you again.

I think Mindy uses a 4- or a 6-lb med ball, not an 8-lb'er. Certainly be careful if the 8-er is what you'll be using; as I recall she does some standing core twists that you may need to modify with smaller range of motion OR slower twists; I think she does some ball-tossing as well.

I kinda like this dvd for a change. It's very non traditional and works the core. I do some of the stability ball work on my bosu (the planks) the bosu moves and I must stabilize, but I'm not worried about breaking my neck with the ball shooting out etc.

Mindy uses a 4 lb medicine ball.

I like the DVD, why? Because it is different and it challenges you. It does work more on the core, which is what you want to work on anyway.

It is a workout that is not laden with the traditional crunches, etc., which after a while is a bore and ineffective anyway. I, personally, like to mix it up and Mindy does that.
