Low Carbers & Friends - Sept 2012

Rhea, I got S&H from Lita's suggestion awhile back and like it. I am getting to the point that I really don't want to do a ton of reps fast. I feel like there's less risk for injury with heavy and slow!
 
I know what you mean about the fast reps. I actually felt like the Legs and Gluts Intensity one was too fast! Then I did push/pull today and was irritated when I kept having to stop the dvd so I could get the equipment. Geeze, give us more that a second to change things!! But it was still a good workout and I was surprised that on most of the stuff I was doing Cathe's weight or higher. The only one I had to lower was the biceps with the leg on the stability ball. I don't know if it was the stability ball or just that I was a bit tired and had to lower from 12.5 to 10s. (well that and the reps were pretty fast. ) I can't wait to get the new ones. I think I'll be all ready for the new cross trainers when they get here.
 
Another one that wants slow reps :D! I just really feel there's too much momentum involved in faster reps - plus you're just working endurance, not strength, when you do that. Such a shame that Cathe focuses on endurance so much :(....

Rhea - L&G is definitely too fast paced! Thank heavens for the "pause" button :eek:. Yes - it is frustrating to scramble for weights :mad:. But there are other workouts where I want her to hush up and get to the exercise :p. On S&H the rests are timed so while she chatters, I do lots of stretching. I do FF towards the end (like on the last shoulder exercise). On the PS series, some times I FF thru a lot of that chit-chat ;). Other times I use that chat time to add on more reps. That one is faster paced so the weights are lighter (I've hurt myself trying to go heavier while keeping her pace :rolleyes: ) so I add as many reps as I can squeeze in during those chatty times.
 
I can't believe that I already received the DVDs!! That was fast..when did I order them, Friday? I might do one of them tomorrow or stick with the Supersets that I originally planned. Sort of a whole body routine this week, with days off between....well, I was going to do a Yoga Booty Ballet this morning, but terrible night of sleep, so took that extra hour of sleep!
 
Oof, I stuck to Supersets...I'm a bit tired now. Off for some intervenous (sp?) caffeine. Will take a lot to get through this morning, especially with a darn meeting...already yawning in anticipation of it. lol
 
Rhea - SS is a feel-good workout for me :D! When I'm torn over what to do or just don't really feel like doing anything, that's my go-to :cool:. Hope you got enough coffee to survive that meeting ;)!
 
Hmm, I might just pop in a SS workout tomorrow morning. Sort of fits my mood lately, not wanting to do anything. :)

Rhea, I sent pics of the house to you at your work email, did you get them?

Glad you are getting into the swing of things with school Melinda AND getting a little moola with part time work. :D Thank you for the hugs! I really do like work and my supervisor told me she really appreciates how I've stepped up and she has no doubt that I will pass my probation period. Yippee! I think I will celebrate that by taking a day off when the review period is over! :p

I haven't a clue as to when we will move in. :rolleyes: We don't have sheetrock yet (I'm hoping we will in the next couple of weeks) so maybe Thanksgiving? I haven't packed a thing and have no motivation to do so either! I'll throw most stuff in the car and drive 15 minutes to the new place. And if we have to pay an extra month's rent on the apt., I'm fine with that too. :)

This week has been full of bad eating and not enough time to exercise. But I am pleased to report that I grabbed 15 minutes yesterday and did abs. I've done something every day. Tomorrow is a power walk with a friend. And happy hour after work! :p

Have the new DVDs been sent already? I can't keep up! I'll read the latest newsletter and camp out at the post office.

This has been my off week from STS, so I've got in some yoga, HIIT, and the low impact series workout.

Rhea, I am feeling stronger, too. The low impact stuff was easier to get through and I find myself able to use heavier weights.

Lita, so during the STS where there's the over 60 sec rest, I usually fold laundry or do something else in between, don't like those long pauses, although I understand why she does it on those. But for the other workouts I never considered FF button. I have a little vaccume for the basement, so I'll be doing that while she talks.

So we've had rain several days but today looks like it might be good. Got the high school football game tonight. Tracy, my happy hour will be homemade pizza.

Melinda - I've tried doing other stuff besides the FF but then I get too sidetracked and have to rewind a bit because I'm late joining back in :eek: :p.

Tracy - Glad you could pop in :D! The new dvds? If you mean the newest series, I don't think they're even taped yet. If you mean the 2 she did as a follow up to Afterburn, those came to my house a while back. If you're talking the "new" dvds Rhea got, those were S&H and PS.
