Low Carbers and Friends - March 2010

Rhea - I think that's a great way of simplifying the daily choice of what to wear :D! And hopefully that good luck will keep coming with it ;)!

Tracy - I have all shades - and most of them don't even go together, lol! My favorite shade is usually yellow green but I also like forest green and MSU green. I also have quite a few purples, pinks, blues, burgandys - hmmmm, pretty much every shade of the rainbow PLUS some :p! (And yes, I have some yellow - AND a chartreuse, for that matter ;). I do better w/ yellow than orange, for sure.) Thanks for the review of 37! I was going to do it instead of plyo legs the next time, but now I don't know.... Oh well - I'll figure something out .

Well, purple suit worked again. Although not a tehnical win, it was best for my 17 year old client. He was charged directly as an adult because it was a forcible rape (one of those where she really just said no, but no violence, hitting or anything like that....) If he was convicted as an adult (he had a confession where he said he did, and a pre-text recorded phone call where he admitted to her that he shouldn't have "forced" her) So the district attorney did not want this kid to be "thrown away" and just sent to prison if he was convicted; so he allowed the kid to admit the charge and have the petition sent back down to juvenile court for proceedings as a juvenile. At least he won't go to prison.

Okay, now to catch up with everthing else!

Definitely sounds like the best outcome. Way to go, Rhea :D! Let's hear it for you AND the purple power suit ;)!

Yep, now I've definately got to wear the purple suit for the first day of the next trial. Like I said, can't hurt to keep up the tradition. Us public defenders need all the mojo we can get.

Workouts. Let's see. Yesterday morning I got up and did Burn Circuit #2. This morning was a run, except that we all ended up walking on the way back. Don't know why, but we did. It was a little slippery from a rain/snow/whatever it was last night, so it was probably a good thing. This afternoon's entertainment will be Burn Intervals during my lunch. Oh boy!

Well, back to the salt mine. Hi ho...hi ho...it's off......(now it will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day, you will be singing!:p)

You are soooo welcome Lita!! :D I do that to my office staff all the time and they get me back by singing the Sesame street song....I think that one sticks to your brain even faster!

Hi babes! I think that is a great outcome for your client Rhea and I'm sure he'll be on the straight and narrow from now on. Good job! :D

Lita, I cracked up that you put a link to the shades of green! Thanks! Boy, there are many, aren't there? I forgot to mention that I wear olive green quite a bit too.... :p

As for disc 37, I did have some DOMS the next day, in areas I haven't had before! My mid back for one, and a little bit in a different area of the booty. Why? She makes us do front squats. Although I said I don't recommend using dumbbells with Disc 37, it was because I was thinking about the amount of weight you have to lift over your head to get the barbell to rest on your back, I apologize for that Lita! You wouldn't be doing that with dummbells, duh! If you want to try it, (the front squat I mean), I would hold them close to the front of your shoulders like you would at the top of a bicep curl (but in a resting position of course). I went lighter for that exercise since we never do them. I do look forward to seeing what the increased weight will do to me on the next disc. ;)

I did PUB yesterday, along with HIIT Double Wave Pyramid (finally)! And now the HIIT dvd is on the shelf o' dust. Just not something I enjoyed.

Today I did one of Tracie Long's new one, Staying Power. After HIIT and PUB yesterday, this one kicked my butt! I liked it, it wasn't the functional training as much as it was the good ol' AWT we all knew and loved with the Firm. IMHO anyway. :) I was supposed to join the meet up group tonight but I cancelled it because it was pouring rain and I didn't feel like working out in it!

TGIF! And have a great weekend too!

Rhea - Luckily, I don't know that one ;). Well, if I thought long and hard I might remember but - I'm not even going there :p!

Tracy - The catalog I got it from called it 'spring green' and I actually think that's a better name. Anyway, I thought the name on that page was misleading so I thought I'd let you see it wasn't nearly as yellow as it sounded. Olive green works for me, too! If you're ever bored - or just curious ;) - there are other pages there for shades of other colors too :p. Thanks for the update on STS! I will definitely keep that in mind !

Hi Everyone,

well, FL was a bust! Rain and cool temps the first 1/2 and cloudy and too busy the second. Not once did I wear a bathing suit or go out in the sun :( We did get to see DH's dad and brother one day, that was good. Missed snow and ice on Fri, so that was also good.

Staying in OH all of April and I need a break! I want to get back into a steady workout routine. Did manage to do the Boxing dvd one day, but that was it.

I plan to be working out into my 80s as well. We will only look 60!

Rhea, congrats on the case.

Tracy, I have lost all track of Tracie Long. I'm guessing you still get on her website regularly./

Lita, seems like you wear ALL the colors. I notice that if I decide to buy clothes one season, they are all the same color. I have done that over and over again. My brain gets stuck on a color theme for that season.

Now to tackle STS M2, Week 3 back, biceps (think that's the one I need to do next)

Melinda - I am so sorry FL was a bust :( but I'm happy to see you again :D! Wow - the whole month of April you're home ????? You won't know how to act :p! Yes, once I decided to add some color to my wardrobe, I went all out . But I'm like you - I order clothes sporadically but in large orders so I end up w/ lots of the same colors. But that's okay - it's a lot easier to coordinate different outfits that way so I get a lot more mileage out of each piece .

Good morning!

Melinda - you won't know what to do with yourself all April!

Yesterday, I jogged/walked in the morning, was a bit tired, so not enough energy to jog all the way. Plus it was really windy! Then I did Burn Circuit #1 in the afternoon. Today will be Cardio Axe and an ab workout, can't remember the name. I'm sort of doing a combination of the Brazil rotation added into the Chalene rotation. I'll do that until I've sampled all the BBL workouts and then I'll probably add some more Cathe in with some Tracie Long. I really want to keep the CLX going though, I can tell that it was good to get back to those, even though I've had to up the weights on most exercises.

Well, I suppose I should get back to work. Or go to the grocery store...what a choice.:confused:

Hi babes! I was going to pick the food choice too Rhea! That's much better than work any day! DH stayed home with a migraine today (he's feeling better now) and when I called him in the afternoon, I complained that I was really bored with what I was doing. He suggested I come home early. "Due to boredom?" I asked. "Good excuse as any!" I didn't do it though.

Melinda, I'm so sorry your trip wasn't cooperative weather-wise! I know someone who went to Hawaii this past month when it's supposed to be warm and sunny. It was raining and in the mid 60s. I have a suggestion for everyone regarding vacations this year. Do not plan anything based on the weather. It's too screwed up this year! Winter just arrived for us! Wind, rain, hail and cold. Grrr.

Melinda, I am glad you'll be able to stay put for a month! And you probably won't know what to do with yourself! Tracie Long has come out with a series of 4 workouts called the Longevity series. You can check them out on her website at http://www.tracielongfitness.com if you feel like it.

Lita, what are you doing now for your workouts? Winging it or a rotation?

I did disc 38 today and Drill Max yesterday. I was a little sore in the booty from DM but STS didn't kill me today. We'll see tomorrow! I keep thinking I might be going a bit light but I think my numbers are OK and I didn't fail doing upper body stuff before (well, a couple of times I did!) and I really don't want to go to failure with legs. Hmmm. I plan to do upper body only tomorrow, then a workout with the meetup group on Thursday.

Have an awesome week babes!

Hi Everyone,

I am glad to be staying home this month!

Got back into my workouts and am also sleeping better. We are suppose to have temps around 80 in the next couple days. Sunny here! Who needs FL!

Moving into week 4 of Meso 2 (think that is right).

Oh wow, Melinda - sounds like you're on home turf at the perfect time :D! And yes, you are now in Week 4 of Meso 2 unless you've been fibbin' us :p ;)!

Tracy - You are so right... the weather has always been iffy but now it's downright anybody's guess as to what's happening when & where ! Of course, this is the time of year we usually get our winter, so I'm not surprised we have an 80% chance of snow tomorrow . As for workouts, I decided to go totally different so (as long as the hips cooperate) I'm doing a month of rotations based on the 4DS concept. So this week is the 4DS series - and I'll do it again the third week although I might do the wt parts first. Next week (the second week), I've kinda lined out like this:
Cardio from BM2, PS BBA, but the abs from PS LA, not PS BBA
Cardio from LIC, PS LA (standing work only)
Cardio from CF, PS CST
Cardio from DM, PS LA (floor work only), abs from PS BBA

The 4th week will either be circuits or if I enjoy next week, a repeat of that :).

Melinda, I am jealous of your upcoming weather! Enjoy it! We have rain and cold temps here. We are getting winter like Lita!

Lita, you are very creative with your workouts. I haven't got that in me!

I did CTX upper body yesterday and I'm feeling it today! (I pause the program if it goes too fast.) Today was the meetup group workout and she worked us good without weights! I really enjoy the added variety this group gives me.

Have a great Friday and weekend babes!
