Hi Laura,

I didn't want to hijack your thread. Now you have me really excited about this move ;) I hadn't heard anything about the mall. DH just accepted a job in Madison 2 weeks ago and he starts mid-September, so with trying to find a place to live, get my current house ready to sell, etc. I haven't really had a chance to look into the important things in the area :) We are going to be living in Cedar Knolls for the next year or so and we are coming from Baltimore, MD so I don't really know anything about NJ. It's great to know there will be another Catheite in the area.

Oh Jennifer you are so going to love it here. The Short Hills Mall is NJ's version of Rodeo Drive or 5th Ave. There's a freakin helipad on the roof so people can chopper in & buy their Armani, Hermes or whatever without having to bother their limo driver.

The downside is it's like one of the most expensive areas in the country, but that's b/c it's such a great place to live.

I was raised in S. Jersey but I've lived all up & down the east coast (actually went to undergrad in Chestertown--loved it there!:) ) & this is without a doubt my favorite place to live so far. There's so much going on, the architecture is historic & beautiful, the shopping is fabulous, the population is diverse, the culture is amazing, & NYC is just about 20 minutes away by train.

If you have questions about anything in the area (utilities hookups, garbage disposal, real estate referrals, whatever) or need anything you just let me know. When you come up we'll have lunch & tour the area on the w/e if you want, or just have lunch & BS. It's always nice when you move to a new place to already have a friend waiting. :)

I also live in NJ, not far from Laura. I live 2 towns away from Madison and 2 towns away from Laura and still haven't met her yet. I don't know if you heard of New Providence. It is the next town from Summit. I really think you will enjoy NJ. Well we will all have to get together real soon:).

Well, I checked out the website for the mall and I'm already picturing one of the ways I'll spend my free time! I was already pretty psyched about being so close to NYC. That was the first thing I thought of when my husband was offered this job. I've lived in Baltimore my whole life so this is a pretty big change but I'm really excited to move someplace totally new.

Thanks for offering to answer questions. I hope I won't drive you nuts over the new few weeks! I'd love to meet up when I get there, especially since I don't know a single soul there besides DH.

Barbara--I hadn't heard of New Providence yet but I'm sure when we get up there everything will start becoming familiar.

Hopefully we all get to meet soon,

Jennifer

Oh Laura Im glad you didn't mind me chiming in here. I would love to meet you. Maybe we can do lunch soon when Jennifer moves or sooner:) I will be going back to work at the Y but just 2 days a week in Sept. I took the summer off to be home with my younger son plus he is 11 and he is just to old for camp @ the Y that I work for. I will talk to you soon:)

Hi Jennifer,

I lived in Cedar Knolls, NJ for 5 years. I now live in Morris Township which is about 5 minutes from Cedar Knolls. Please email me with any questions you may have. It would be great to meet you too. We have a lot of healthy food stores in the area such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.
