LOL!!!! Deanie, it IS August, but my head must be back in July still, tehe! ... sorry about that guys!:confused::confused::confused::eek: would I be excused if I told you that I didn't fall asleep until after one and was up at 6, only to close my eyes for a wink before I dragged myself up and started the thread?

Percy Jackson - is that the Lightening Thief? That was another one that was recommended to us, and DS LOVES Greek mythology so we will get to it one day. So many books, so little time! Enjoy your rest day. There is something refreshingly rebellious about taking a rest during the middle of the week, dontcha think? :p

Gayle, have you done that w/o before? It looks really familiar to me. Enjoy your time running around with NO RAIN! We had rain for the first time in weeks yesterday, and I can't tell you how happy I was to see it. I love the sun, but all things in moderation is a very good thing - if only the weather would listen to us. ;)

I just finished a deck of cards, Jersey shore style. You take a deck of cards and do the number on the card of that suit's excersize. I don't know if I am making sense, but I hope you get it. Here is the breakdown:

Hearts: swings (35#)
Diamonds: push ups
Spades: one arm rows (do both arms, 25/20#)
Clubs: C&P (25/20#)

Aces: 10 burpees
Jokers: 12 burpees
Face cards: 10 of the suit

I set the timer for 30 minutes, but when 30 minutes was up I only had 5 cards left so I went ahead and finished the deck in under 33 minutes. The beginning of the workout was killer! I had all cards of 8 and over to start, and I swear all of the clubs were clumped together and being evil on purpose, and they were all face cards or above 7 with 3 Aces (10 burpees) mixed in.:eek::eek: It made the end of the workout an absolute breeze, though. So the totals were 85 of each exercise and 52 burpees.

Well, I am off to do... whatever. I would like to get a nap in today if I can. This morning I am diong a bit of cleaning up, reading with the boys and some Phonics with my youngest DS. I hope that you guys all have a wonderful day. :)

Melissa

:) GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!! :)

That Daisy workout was tough!!!! It should be called "Overgrown Weeds" or "Dead Flowers"....something not so pretty. I started out doing the run with my 22# sandbag. The run then became a walk and was not quite 400m. On the second round I wrestled the 10# med ball from my sister. She used the sandbag and said it felt good. Umm...I didn't believe her because she starting walking as well. On the third round my sister and I switched between the sandbag and the med ball. I did not do weighted push ups. The walking lunges were brutal. I did 25 each leg for a total a 50. Started out with a 25# kb, then changed it to the 10# med ball, then on the 3rd round did it without weight. I'm going to try this workout again as I asked for Cathe's weighted vest for my birthday.

Today's Workout
(I made this one up)
Warm-up - 100 Jump Rope
Then
40-30-20-10 reps of the following:
Slam Ball
Swings
Weighted Step Ups

Missy ~ I thought you were joking about the date! Fun workout today. We used to do that in boot camp sometimes but they would take out all the cards that were under 5. When someone pulled a joker, everyone had to do 10 reps of every exercise. I admit that sometimes we would hide the jokers or throw them on the discard pile without doing them. :p

Gayle ~ I like your workout from last night. Yay....no rain. We have a threat every day. I was hustling last night to finish the workout because it was thundering and getting dark but then it never rained. Enjoy your rest days!!!

Deanie ~ Enjoy your rest day.

Rhonda ~ Thinking of you and hoping all is well.

Marcy ~ Hi!! :D

Tammy ~ We miss you!!

Waves hello to everyone else!!

Jane - Thanks for the "Daisy" review. I love the alternate names. :D Have fun this evening. Do you ever find that the stuff you make up yourself ends up being harder than what you find on other web sites?

Melissa - I did do a similar WOD a few months ago that did the run and the swings, but also included a burpee ladder for 1-2...8-9-10. I wasn't feelin' any burpee love last night. ;):D I've seen the deck of card workout on several different sites, but have never tried it. I think I'll give it a go sometime.

Have a great day everyone!

Yes..and then I end up swearing at myself during the workout! :p

Sometimes I'll find a workout on another site that doesn't seem hard so I'll throw in another exercise or two. Then I'm doing the workout thinking why is this is hard? I am my own worst enemy! :D

Melissa - Great, fun workout!

Jane - Great workout last night! Sounded brutal! Doing any Insanity workouts this week? I saw your review of Cardio Power & Resistance. Looks great!

Rhonda - Hope you're having a great time!

Gayle - Great workout!

Waves to Tammy, Laura and Andilynn!

Marcy

Marcy ~ I might do another Insanity workout on Sunday.

I'm previewing the workouts. I didn't think much of the recovery workout but I think if you are doing the workouts as prescribed, the recovery workout is definitely needed. I watched the Pure Cardio/Cardio Abs disc and oh my, that one looks tough. You do 20 minutes straight drills without breaks. The people in the workout were taking breaks though but it looked really tough!!

Jane - I'm sure you can handle Pure Cardio without a problem! I hear that one's the toughest. People have nicknamed it "Pure Hell"!

Big Hug to All

Thank you so much for the patience vibes. Here is the deal. DH is an only child and his parents are very elderly. For the last 5, yes 5, years we have been whittling down their things.

They lived in their house for over 50 years. We were able to sell the house in January and the new owner put the remaining items in storage for us.
Yesterday we went and emptied the storage unit. Not only was it physically exhausting ( no AC) but mentally for DH.

It saddened him to have to get rid of things but what do you do with old plaques, certificates, etc. Before their health declined we asked them to move closer to live with us, near us, or in an assisted living facility. They adamantly refused.

So they are stuck living in a nursing home down the hall from each other. Luckily we fly for free so we try to visit once a month. I get along well with both of them. I just needed patience do deal with DH because he is still angry about their decision not to move.

Sorry for the long post but since we talk almost every day, I wanted to fill you in.

Haven't exercised yet but I will.

Waves to all,

Rhonda
