Kettlebell Wednesday

Good Morning!!!

Rhonda:::I hope you are feeling less sore/better today!!! I like your calendar story! You can keep me in line with the hollidays! LOL Well, we don't strictly celebrate Sukkot, we don't build a sukkah or eat in one or anything, but we did go to services and we had lots of fruit(its a harvest- fruit- festival)

Marcy::: Okay, today have fun at Bolero class!!:) I'm glad you and your mom are on better terms now!

Melissa::: Hope you are feeling better about your mom situtation. Great workout to mix it up yesterday!!

Have a great day ladies!!

I did Strike Zone minus the strength section this am with a bunch of jump rope skips, I lost count... that's what happens when I don't write it down as I go, but I know that I did a whole lot! :p I am feeling much better today. It's just that for some reason my mom has the ability to make me feel like I am a naive, inexperienced little kid when I don't see her way of thinking. And she knows e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. Monday was the first time I have really disagreed with her about something in at least decade, and it was a big thing, and she takes it very personally (which is why I avoid it) and said some very hurtful things to me. I know that she doesn't mean it and that she loves me and that she feels very guilty right now, but I still feel like I need her to tell me that it's okay and she still loves me even if I don't see it her way. Isn't that pathetic? :(

Marcy, I used to have the CIA video you are talking about! I also loved it. DH accidentally tossed it out when we got rid of our VCR. I made a request to Greg Twombley that he put out a DVD, something like a Greatest Hits of Kickboxing, that included Janis and that one from Kelli Roberts (I can't remember the numbers). I haven't checked back to see if he ever did it, and I don't know that he will BUT I WISH HE WOULD!

Deanie, I use lots of smilies too. :) Do you have any plans this weekend? We are having our last soccer game of the season. I can't believe how fast everything flew by! Crazy.

Rhonda, how's it feel to sit today? How's it feel to go from sitting to standing? I hope you feel a little looser today. :) Try to move around as much as you can, that always helps. That and bubble baths. And see if you can get DH to give you a message. And get your feet while he's at it. ;):p

Hello Gayle, Jane and everyone else!!!

Melissa

Good morning!

Melissa - Parents (and other relatives) have that uncanny ability to make us feel that way sometimes. It's not pathetic. I'm glad you're feeling better today. Nice workout today! :)

Deanie - Good workout today! That's way cool that Dallas emailed you back. Everything will go fine with the Bar Mitzvah! No worries. When is it?

Marcy - Have fun at Bolero class! How's your back?

Rhonda - I've changed my sign to "will work for Guinness". :p Hope the DOMS have subsided.

Jane - No deer?!?! I thought maybe you were plying me with beer and venison!

Here's the run down from last night's deadlifts:
Warm up - 135x5x2; 155x5x1 then,
WOD
5-5-5-3-3-3
165-175-185-195-204!-204! :D:D:D PR!

All the sets were hard, but the last two were intense and hard. I had to switch to an alternating grip on the last reps.

Deanie - I can see why PTTP talks about not working at max loads all the time. While it was nice to PR, I can really see how those lighter sets make you improve. My form felt better than it had before, but it definitely got dicey at 195 and up.

No workout tonight. I gotta take Phat Chance (my cat) to the vet. I think he might have a UTI. :(

Have a good day!

Hello My Friends,

I didn't go running last night as planned. A couple of things came up and I just "ran" out of time. I ended up knocking my mailbox off the post (with my car) last night, retrieving it from the ditch and putting it back together.

Tonight I have to be at my parent's house earlier than usual, so I'm working out in their backyard with my trusty kettlebell. This is from Crossfit 603. Depending how I feel after this workout, I'm going to add on some walking lunges, more swings and jump squats. For some reason I'm lovin' jump squats at the moment.

603 WOD
This is a “prison style” workout. Start at one end of the room, perform the movement, then walk to the other side of the room and continue. The bigger the room, the tougher the workout.

 • 15 one-hand KB swings, left (24K/16K)
 • Farmer’s walk (to the other side of the room), left
 • 14 one-hand KB swings, right
 • Farmer’s walk, right
 • Continue swings and farmer’s walks, alternating hands, down to 1 rep
 • The workout ENDS with one last farmer’s walk

Special bonus: If you have to put the kettlebell down at any point… do 10 push-ups. Scaling options – do 2-hand swings instead, and/or drop the Rx’d weight, and/or start at 10 reps instead of 15.

Deanie ~ Thanks for the explanation on the stretch. I actually do that stretch but I didn't know the name of it. :) That's so cool that you talked to Dallas.

Melissa ~ It's not pathetic at all. No matter how mature (old) we are, we still want love from our moms. I'm glad you are feeling better!

Gayle ~:eek::eek::eek::eek: about the deer...beer!!!! I can get your deer if you want that too! lol!!

Rhonda and Marcy ~ Hope you guys are feeling better!

Enjoy your Wednesday!!!

I channeled my inner Dara Torres

I don't know why I thought of her but I figured if she could participate in the Olympics at 41, surely I am not going to let soreness get me.

I went to Strong Fit last night and 2 Krav classes. I feel great! When I exercise late, I don't seem to need as much sleep. So I woke up at 4 this morning, ( DH was out of town) and started cleaning the house. I was very productive.

Deanie- I will remind you of all the dates. My coworker who grew up Jewish made some dessert last year for ???? She made some cookies with jam in the middle. Have to check my calendar for the name. Great workout this morning..

Melissa- I am glad you are feeling better today. My mom used to try to do that with me but I put her in check. Hate to sound harsh but I can't go for being treated badly when I haven't done anything to deserve it. I used to wish we had a storybook relationship but now I realize that everybody doesn't and that is okay. I take the good days (moments) and dismiss the bad ones. DH has hands that feel like sandpaper and I don't necessarily need to be exfoliated, so I will pass on the massage:p.

Marcy-Glad things are better with your mom. Have fun at class tonight.

Gayle- Great workout yesterday and I love your cat's name!

Jane- I hope you didn't hurt your car. Hope things go well at your parents this evening.

Have a peachy day.

Rhonda

Good Afternoon!

My back's feeling better. I did a vinyasa practice this morning - Amba - Where Rhythm & Gravity meet. I seem to be doing more vinyasa lately than power yoga and I like it but will get back to power yoga soon. Managed to do headstand again for a few seconds. Also did: standing split, bow, backbend, shoulderstand, eagle (getting better at this), bridge, twists, boat, bicycle, double leg raises, royal pigeon, butterfly, Warrior 3, Revolved Triangle, Chair, Twisting Chair. Also practiced shakti kicks for forearm stand against the wall.

Rhonda - Wow! 2 KM classes! You certainly did get lots accomplished.

Jane - I hope your car isn't too damaged and that things go well with your parents.

Gayle - Impressive deadlifts!:D Hope your kitty is okay!

Melissa - I also wish Greg would make 9907 on DVD but I don't think it's going to happen. Did you do Tracey Staehle's Strike Zone or Janis' Strike Zone? Not pathetic at all for you to want your mom's approval, acceptance, love at any age.

Deanie - Good job on the back squats!:D

Marcy

Marcy ~ The car wasn't damaged nor was the mailbox. I am (or was) a little stressed out and I was on the verge of a meltdown but my sister saved me. I haven't been sleeping very well and I'm waiting until Friday when my sister gets here. The rest of us sisters (that live here) are going on an all day shopping trip to Jacksonville on Saturday. Yay!!!

Deanie ~ My parents have a long backyard so it looks like I'm having a tough workout tonight!!

Gayle ~ Hope your kitty is ok!!

Rhonda ~ Glad you're feeling better!!
