LAST EDITED ON Oct-07-01 AT 08:55PM (Est)[p]Another gym in my small town has offered me a couple of classes a week . . . prime slots, Monday and Wednesday evenings.

This gym is 2-3 miles away from my current workplace. They cater to somewhat different clientele, though. Gym #1 knows that I would like to teach more classes but we don't have enough business to support anymore. It has been open 2 years and we consider 6-8 people a really large class, 4-5 is a pretty good size.

On the contrary, gym #2 has been in business for at least 15 years and has many more classes with much greater attendance.

I haven't given them an answer yet. I honestly prefer working only during school hours, but I have wanted to get my foot in the door at this gym for ages. Would you guys feel "funny" about this???

Would there be a possibility for you to do classes at both places? Does gym #1 consider you an independant contractor? Sometimes you can't always work the most ideal hours. Sounds like a good chance for you.

For what it's worth, take it or leave it.

RE: Go for it

Hi, Kim! I'd say go for it, if your current club does not have a policy against instructors teaching for other facilities. You may want to double check that before you accept the offer. If your current club does have such a policy, I'd seriously consider whether or not it's worthwhile to continue there, with its low numbers and all.

You have a talent and a skill, and you shouldn't keep yourself from exercising (pardon the pun) it!
