Christine - not sure if it is just me, but clicking on the link didn't work.

Tried to locate in today's paper online but had no luck. Looks like an interesting article - any ideas on how to look it up?

TIA

I tried to go to the NY Times page for today's paper (but not the specific article), and a message said their server was experiencing difficulties. That's probably why the link doesn't work.

What an interesting article! Does this mean that we can stop worrying so much about getting lots of protein in right after weight training?!:)

Sounds like it. I know for me, that protein right after lifting does help with appetite control, but it doesn't have to be a protein shake. Just remember, this is two experts opinions. A lot of other experts won't agree. Just interesting to read different points of view.

Interesting!
Thanks for posting.

I found this about post-workout protein consumption to be particularly interesting, as some of us were discussion a while ago the limit on the amount of protein the body can assimilate at one time:

"But muscles don’t need much protein, researchers say. Twenty grams is as much as a 176-pound man’s muscles can take. Women, who are smaller and have smaller muscles even compared to their body sizes, need less.

Dr. Rennie said that 10 to 15 grams of protein is probably adequate for any adult."

But when you are limiting your carbs, therefore limiting your caloric intake, where do you make up the calories? Protein. And of course small amounts of fat. Hum. Who the heck knows, I am convinced studies are for the most part not done properly anyway.

I think I probably just eat too much period. Think I will consume only veggies for a month and see how that goes.:p I think you can get too much protein which in the end, winds up being too many calories consumed if you are not limiting your calories with the other two food groups. I am so tired of trying to figure it all out...sorry, I am thinking outloud here. Thank you for posting the article, really!:7

Thanks for reposting Christine !:7

I did find that article but didn't read far enough to see it mentioning post workout.x(

Tneah - LOL ! I'm with you - am actually kinda getting tired of eating at this point in time:-( Trying to track macros, get enough but not too much, eating when I'm not hungry, etc. OK, I'm done too !
