intensity of workouts

i wanted to know how intense you all workout? do you feel that the intensity of your workout gives you results or is it more about being consistant? i'm asking b/c like many of you i just got my new insaity workouts. I'm doing them 3 times a week everyother day. While i do like them i'm having a hard time pushing myself like that and i'm finding that i'm dreading doing them. I'm in really good shape but this workout brings me to my knees. I'm questioning myself about doing them and wondering if its worth the torture.

nevermind. i'm going to stick with it. it seems like i'm trying to talk myself out of these workouts. i always read the things that you need most in a workout are the things that are the most challenging. i guess the whole purpose of these workouts is to get you out of your comfort zone and push your limits. its been a while since i've done this. all in all the total time of the actual hard core workout is 20 minutes with about a 10 minutes to warm up and 5 to cool down (total 40 minutes) i can do anything for 20 minutes

At least in my opinion, there is somewhat of a misconception that for a workout to be effective, it has to make you "cry uncle". That's simply not true. I have used the "talk test" to measure perceived exertion, and when something's too hard, I don't do it. Case in point...Drill Max...it got to the point where I was almost modifying the entire workout, so I no longer use it.

I stick with Cathe's weight training and kickbox DVD's, and any additional cardio I need, I get from interval walking/jogging, and my clothes are practially falling of me in some cases, without a drastic change in diet.

I cancelled the Shock Cardio pre-order, and changed it to just the MMA series and Travel Fit, for this reason. I have to listen to my body, because when I don't, I end up on the shelf, along with the DVD!!
