I'm so indecisive!!

Have you ever been at the point that you are doing an exercise routine one week and totally change it the next. I think I want to do a routine for a while but after a week I want something else. For instance last week I was going to do total body three times a week for about two or three weeks. Well after doing ph and part of SS I just didn't want to do it any more. Now I want to go back to gymstyles tomorrow and wondering if I will stay with that.

How can I stick with something for at least three weeks? I want to do something long enough to see results. Has anyone been this way before?

Thanks for all you help!

Hi Kim, truthfully I have never been much of a rotation follower but you might try it to get results. I change my weight routine alot now, but I am not looking for results but just maintaining what I have. Check out the rotation forum and see if there is one there you like. Follow it for 4 weeks and then change. Cathe normally puts out a new rotation monthly...hope this helps some...:)..Carole

Oh man do you sound like me! I am notorious for changing my "plan" every weekend and starting something new on Mon!!! I'm like, famous in my family for it! Even my kids give me a hard time about it. And not just my rotation but diet too. And inevitably it also leads to a night before I start my diet binge! This is a fairly recent thing that started with me just this year. Not sure what is going on but I really need to get a handle on it! I'll be checking this post often to see what pearls of wisdom Catheites bestow!

What you might want to do, since you like to have something different week to week, is simply make up a 1 week rotation on say Sunday, that hits every area you want. Then next sunday if you've changed, make up a rotation that fits your mood then, and follow it for another week.

As I have a lot of clients who are like this and don't like to do the same thing for two weeks in a row. The key is, to keep it balanced, and always head toward your goals. Don't have only lower body work, if you want nice buff arms as well. Always make sure it hits what you really want to improve. Even if your really not in the mood for it, compromise, toss this in, and then do something you really really want to do.

I personally think rotations are one of the best way to obtain your goals when you have more then just two or three. As you can work really hard on one per week, but work hard on the next one for a week, but then maintain with a little bit of a push the one you did in week one, and then on the thrid week combine the two etc. Also rotations allow you to have a better over all fitness combination for the month then just grabbing whatever DVD you feel like doing. Even though you may still be doing equal amounts of cardio and weight training. Not all workouts, work you the same way, or in the same direction. So if you can balance that out too, then you really have a good balanced program.

This is one of the main reasons why I get hired. I get to worry about all that stuff, the person paying me just gets told what to do and for how long. Plus the fact they have access to a mega ton of equipment so it makes it easier to balance on their mood changes.

Kim - I am very indecisive in every aspect. I've followed rotations before but I do get bored. I have learned to only make a rotation for one week at a time. I do make substitutions if I feel like I'm in the mood for something else. I don't want to force myself to do something I will not enjoy otherwise I will dread working out.
