I LOVE food, why????

UGH! I just love food. I'm trying to lose weight (about 45 pounds) and all I can think about is food!!!!!!!! I think i need another hobby. :7

I love to workout with all of you and Cathe, but there has to be something else to fill my void. I have a stressful job and that doesn't help. If I have two minutes I think about food and what I should eat next. UGH! It's very frustrating. We are leaving for a vacation on the Disney Cruise in 4 weeks and I was hoping to drop 10 pounds before leaving, but I can't get food off my mind or out of my mouth!

Maybe I obsess about it too much? Ya think??? :)

Marcia,

It sounds like you might not be eating enough. Do you eat every 2-3 hours? I know you are not a SAHM, but you can be creative and bring small meals into work with you...well, at least I would hope you could. Tunafish w/crackers, yogurt, cottage cheese, protein bar, salad, pbj sandwich, cheese stick, etc. Fill your belly up with lots of water too.
I still crave cookies on ocassion and you can buy the ones made with splenda at the store so you can still have your cookie and not feel guilty.

Hope you have a great time on your trip. Give Mickey a kiss for me!

Marcia,
I live to eat too! I measure every experience by the food. Vacations, cruises, parties. For me, it's all about the food. It is a gift that should be enjoyed. And food lovers have a big leg up in the weight loss game. Because we love everything, we have no problem living on vegetables, seafood and non-fat yogurt. Most of the seriously overweight people I know are not food lovers. They are food haters. They have a small repetoire of foods that they eat, and it makes it hard for them to lose weight. If you really love food, weight loss will be a lot easier for you than for others.

Enjoy your cruise!

What a great post, Miss Nancy! I never thought of it that way! I always marveled at why I don't weigh 600 pounds with the way I like to eat, but you explained it to me! I LOVE that Dannon Yogurt with the Fiber One and Fiber One Honey Clusters six days a week, and the salads, too.

We could both try out for the Food Network next time they have a host search - what would you call YOUR show???!!! I thought of one for me - Easy Desserts to Die For! Of course then we'd be on a first name basis with Emeril Lagasse ... !!!!
Just Do It! :)

Nancy, that is so true!!! I have never thought about that before, and you are so right. That is why I have no problem losing weight and DH does - I will eat anything and he will eat only a few things. I don't think I have ever heard anything that makes more sense! Thank you, Nancy, for enlightening me!! :7

Nancy, that is brilliant! For me reading this was what Oprahites would call an ah-ha! moment. I have never thought of it this way, it seems almost oxymoronic but it is so true! Thanks Nancy, now maybe you could check out my 'Business 101' post and see if you can go '2 for 2':)

You folks are too kind. Maybe I should write all my posts after 2 large glasses of Pinot Grigio and a huge platter of sushi, like I did last night. :+ (YUM!!!)

Anyway, my thoughts are just based on observations over the years. I have noticed a few exceptions, but look at the people you know and see for yourself.

Also, as Kathryn pointed out to me, there is a tastebud scale that goes from "supertasters" to "nontasters". Those who have less ability to taste have more trouble losing weight and keeping it off because they are always seeking satisfaction. Those with more sensitive taste buds are more easily satisfied, and tend to have fewer weight problems. I think this falls in with my general observations.
