Hello everyone,
Our campgrounds opened up last week and my family and I went out to our permanent campsite to get everything cleaned up and ready to go for the summer. Well I was taking a break reading a magazine and the next thing I know ,my daughter is freaking out like something was stinging her so I ran out on our deck where she was and her shorts were on fire! Turns out my son had a cap gun and pointed it at her when he shot it off and it must have sparked and she had shorts on that had fringe on them. Needless to say they were burning, not in flames yet but still burning on my poor little girl(only 4) I laid her down and patted them out with my hands(not too smart of me) but that was my first instinct, then of course I took them off of her and got her into the bathtub with cool water. I put the only thing we had out there on her , neosporin with pain relief. It is now 3hrs later and her inner thighs actually dont look bad,no blisters but red marks as if you got burned with a curling iron. I tell ya ,kids are tough. she is amazing, didnt even really cry. It just scared her.She said ,I almost died and I said no you didnt. But the scary thing is if she would have been across in the yard from our camp site it could have been too late, it could have been worse. I am so thankful she is okay . Thank god is all I can say, he definately was watching over her!!!! anyway, I think my kids will make me have gray hairs before my time. gotta love them!!

Wow Laura, what a day! Thank God your precious daughter wasn't seriously hurt, what a scare it must have been for everyone! Such a brave Girl you have there. My heart goes out to you tonight, after such a trauma it's hard to stop the mind from sifting through the infinite what ifs.....you did so well to deal with the emergency situation then comfort and reassure her. Our gray hairs are hard won, God was indeed watching over your little one and you.

Take Care
Laurie:)

Laura, OMG!!! OMG!!!! I am so glad your DD is o.k.!! My DD is 5 and my DS is almost 4...so the same age...I can't imagine how terrified you must have been as your perfect angel was in trouble! I am so glad that you were there and quick to come to her rescue. I am sure the "what if's" are burning holes in your brain and your perspective is surely heightened!

Hug them both and hold them tight!

thanks to both of you. I was going through the what if's last night, I had already lost a sister in tragedy so my mind can think of terrible things sometimes. I always feel like my sister is watching over my family. The amazing thing is this morning my daughters inner thighs look almost clear. I kept putting that antiobiotic with pain relief on her yesterday and it looks really good this morning. again, THANK GOD!!!!

I would've been scared also. I"m glad that she is ok. My son is 5 and I don't know how many times he's almost given me a heart attack.
