Herniated Thoratic Disk!?!?

Help me!!

Has anyone else had this before? I am now on a 6 day round of cortisone and I am on the 5th day and still feeling pain in my chest. The next step is an MRI, but i just wondered if anyone else has had this and if you are fully recovered? Thanks so much!

Hi,

I had herniated discs(one was exuded, which is really bad) in the lumbar spine. I did the corisone, and the MRI, and they wanted to do cortisone epidurals, but I just couldn't do that. That is standard protocol for serious cases. I am about 95% recovered with a LOT of hard work and no surgery. I would suggest doing a little research to see what standard protocol for treatment and recovery of herniated discs in that area is, just so you can be an educated consumer.

Many people with herniated lumbar discs end up having to have surgery. I think a lot of it depends on how much of the disc is pressing on surrounding nerve tissue and how quickly it resolves itself. It surely is no fun.

Thank you, everyone! No, I am not seeing a chiropractor - I went to one day way back when and it was the scariest and worst experience of my life.
The cortisone is helping me, I can move again already. I start rehab in 4 days after the cortisone rounds. Thanks for your help.

I had a disk herniation (albeit nowhere near as severe as what you described), and fortunately, chiropractic adjustments did help a great deal. So sorry your experience was a negative one. But it sounds like the cortisone is working for you ~ glad to hear. Best of luck as you work through your recovery.
