Try www.spysweeper.com. They have anti virus software you can safely download, then run to remove the trojan from your computer. I use it and I'm happy with it. There are others as well though.

ETA: at www.microsoft.com they also have virus removing software. It hasn't been super effective for me, but it's free. You could try that first.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Is it a "Trojan" or is it just spyware?

If it is spyware there are a number of good free spyware removal tools you can find them through Google....Lavasoft's adaware and another program called Spybot Search and destroy.

To avoid virii i suggest Avast AVG which is free.

I run Spybot and Avast and have stopped a number of malware attacks.

Thanks for this thread, Beth!

My McAfee subscription expired, so I opted to download Norton's system since it comes with my internet provider. However, during the installation process, Norton forced me to get rid of Spybot and Ad-aware, which I wasn't happy about.

Hearing these other recommendations makes me wonder: is Norton worth keeping?

I would dump Norton in a heartbeat. For the protection it provides it is a huge resource hog, slows the computer and your internet down.
