Helllllo!

A few days ago I happened to be in an area where there was a kitty shop so I got some presents for the squirrels. I brought the bag home and put it on the floor for an instant and went to the bathroom...when I came back, Mooch was in the bag http://bestsmileys.com/hyper/3.gif . I peeked in and his eyes were bulging and bugging out like he'd found the Golden Ticket. He was frozen with excitement and literally didn't know what to do - he just stood there with a crazy, hyper look on his face. It was pretty funny.

I'm working at my place today and brought up a lot of stuff from Mom's and did more cleaning...my apartment is pretty clean. Visitors are a good thing! Heh.

MICHELE - The dangling toy was a fur ball on a stretchy string. And the string was fairly thick. They'd played in it for about a week without any trouble (or at least none of that I know...scary). Mooch and Cham happened to be wrestling right by it and they always roll around. The ball must have wrapped around her ankle at that point.

I was shaking after Cham got loose. It totally freaked me out, so I can only imagine how it must have freaked her out. But she got in a good nap (so did I, LOL) and then I fed her some yummy food and gave her a nice rub and massage, and then we all played with the feathers again, so she was all happy and content.

> Did y'all do the bullet walk, or did you have to slow down for them -- lol!

Oh, I bullet walked, of course. I slow down for no one LOL! In fact, they even made a comment about it. They said that they got some great exercise, and it was a wonder how I could walk at such a fast pace and make it look effortless.

> Are you back in you own place now? If not, you should take your mom's kitties to your place so they can get used to it.

Yes, I agree. I did a major clean up in my apartment yesterday and got the place back to being KittyLand. I'm doing work at my place from today, so I have the clan upstairs with me. They look very cozy and enjoyed re-familiarizing themselves with the "new" old digs. We have three more days until Mom comes home, so I'm thinking we'll spend a good deal of it at my place.

Ooh, kitty bubbles with catnip? How cool is that! Man, whenever I can get to the States next time, I'm going to have a TON of kitty shopping. I better bring my big suitcase. Whenever that will be.

SHELLEY - Hey there! Poor Sophie. Urgh, barf. But it sounds like she got better and you guys were able to have some fun. BTS shopping! Sales! Clothing! Woo hoo! There are always such great clothing sales this time of year. I hope you found some cool stuff. Oh, yeah, and school supplies, too. ;-)

Oh, and yes, by the way, Chami is a girl.

DIANE - Oh, I hear you on the "free" toys. Cardboard boxes, toilet paper (wait, that ain't free LOL)...oh, they love to play with my hair LOL.

That baby monitor that senses movement sounds really nice. That's nice that you had another great baby shower.

ROBIN - LOL about poor Maggie! Thank goodness the handle broke! Good thing nobody stepped on her in a frantic rush to try to catch her!

JEN - That's good that you are getting your daily caloric intake, but do remember that it's good to eat actual food, and that telling us not to worry about you because you've added some packaged wraps to your diet is counterproductive!

On a lighter note, that skirt place sounds great. You've ordered them before? I took a look. They are very cute. Any shopping that saves me from actually going to the store is good shopping in my opinion.

DANA - How are things? How's Ralphie's leg? And hey, when did we say that we'll get back into a rotation again? When was that date set for? LOL. You choose a day. I'm ready and able to start up again. Whacha say?

Hugs out to Arista and everybody and I'll be checking in later! :* :* :*

Goodmorning August and haters to come.

It's Little League week here and I think they brought the rain. It rained all day yesterday and all night last night. More showers are predicted today. They have lots of play off games scheduled each day, so I hope they can get them all played before the BIG game this weekend. Dana, do you go to any of the games? Since it's been damp and chilly, the cats have been much more cuddley. Frank slept with us most of last night, something he hasn't done since May.

I managed to get a CTX workout done yesterday. I was the chief babysitter, since DH taught an evening class and DD went to church to help with Bible school. I don't know who's doing Bible school or babysitting this evening, but I'm planning on another CTX.

I'll try to get back later to see what everyone is up to.

Good morning!!

We finally got some rain last night -- FINALLY! It's gloomy outside this morning so I'm hoping it's an indication of more rain to come. We need it desperately. It's supposed to be unbearably hot and humid for the rest of the week, though;( . This summer can't be over soon enough to suit me. Fall, fall, glorious fall -- I can't wait for fall:D

I have much errandizing to do so I won't be around much until later in the day. I was up late last night researching more elbow stuff -- lol! I found lots of exercises and stretches for tennis elbow so I'm good to go. I also learned that this can be a long, protracted problem. I don't think my case is severe but it's bad enough. You have no idea how very much I wish I never EVER played that stupid game.

Workout? Um...a...workout?...Hmmmmm...lesee...nothing planned yet:p

>I peeked in and his eyes were bulging and bugging out like he'd found the Golden Ticket.

I'm totally familiar with this look -- LMAO! Oh yeah, there's nothing Johnny loves more than a bag, which reminds me -- he's gotten his head stuck in the handle of a plastic shopping bag, too. It is pretty funny, but I just read something about a kitty suffocating in a plastic bag;( . Geez, you just can't relax for a minute -- lol!

Poor Cham -- I'm so glad everything is okay. There's nothing like playtime with feathers to take your mind off your entanglements -- LMAO!!

Johnny doesn't seem terribly interested in the bubbles and another thing -- they leave kind of a sticky residue on your furniture and things ;). Probably NOT the smartest purchase I ever made for my kitty.

Robin - Did you post about basement flooding or am I mixing you up with someone else? If it's your basement under water, I hope you don't suffer too much damage. I'll take your rain.

I'm keeping your DM and DS in my prayers for the big move. Moving into a nursing home is pretty traumatic -- I remember well how depressed my mom was at first. It's very hard for the elderly to admit their inability to care for themselves, and then to lose their home and all of their possessions is kind of a shock. We tried to fill mom's room with as many of her favorite possessions from home as we could and this helped. Things like a favorite knickknack and some framed photos are nice. I'm sure you know all that. I was just remembering back to when we went through this with my mom. It's so hard -- really hard.

The book (Ursula, Under for those who want to know) -- I've decided I just don't like her writing style. It's unnecessarily tedious. The story itself is good but I wish she had told it with an economy of words:p . And I'm probably not one to talk because I use them a lot -- but the DASHES!! I have never read a novel that contained so many dashes, and on nearly every page. It just makes for confusion. I have to read a paragraph over and over again for it to sink in because I'm getting lost in excessive asides. But I'm going to finish it because I've invested too much time in it to just let it go. When I finally finish the book I'm going to reward myself with Jane Austen's Persuasion.

Jen - Eatah! Eatah! Eatah! That's what my little Italian grandmother would say to you;) . You can't just look at calories -- you need the kind of good nutrition that you get from REAL food. Okay, I won't say anything else. But think how lucky you are that so many people care about you, you nut! :*

Those skirts are soooo cute. Thanks for sharing the website. I'll bet my sister will love it -- she's always looking for cute clothes for work.

Diane - I'll be looking for your updated picturetrail. It sounds like this last shower was pretty nice. How thoughtful of your friends to find your fabric and use it to make gifts!!

The rest a youse - Have a great day. I'll check back later to see what you're up to.

ROBIN - Wow, it's already getting cold where you are? I can't imagine that! It's scorching over here. I usually don't use the air-conditioner, but this year, it's hard to be in a room without it for very long! Even with the air-con on, the squirrels are sprawled out on the coolest surface they can find. :D

MICHELE - I cannot believe your elbow is giving you this much trouble! How awful!! Is it an ache that is always there, or a pain that comes when you do certain things?

Yeah, I read about the dangers of bag handles. I always give my squirrels bags to play in, but I cut the handles. Actually, on paper bags when you cut the handles, they become fun batting toys. :)

>the bubbles and another thing -- they leave kind of a sticky residue on your furniture

LMAO. Oh, that totally sucks. And Johnny doesn't even get into that much. Oh well, it was nice to give it a try, any way. What are his favorite types of toys?

I'm back at Mom's place after having spent the day with the squirrels at my place. They all looked mighty comfy and at ease! So tomorrow I'll pack up the rest of my stuff and we'll all stay at my place until Mom arrives on Friday. It's going to be so weird to split them up into twos again.

All right. Laters! :*

Hi haters! I just downed a quick lunch and have a few seconds to post then back to work. I was helping out at a training this morning for our aides and I asked if I could stay for the guest speaker b/c my boss always gets the best speakers. She had a neuropsychologist speak from 8:30-11:00 and it was EXCELLENT. I always thought that *maybe* Gabe had ADHD but after his wonderful presentation I have no thoughts of ADHAD at all. He spoke how many doctors just give you a checklist and if you happen to meet 6 of the 9 then there ya go, you've got ADHD let's medicate. He talked about the entire brain from the stem to the different regions. He went over different scenarios and after listening to him I really need to rethink how I speak to Gabe. One thing that he pointed out was how you should never ask a child (or anyone for that matter) Why? Why did you do that? Why didn't you take out the garbage? Etc. Instead try to ask questions. Where? What? I am really glad that I had the opportunity to listen to him.

I also volunteered to participate in a study for maternal
co-sleeping. (well only b/c you get a free $20 gift card for Wal-Mart for your time, hee-hee) Neither of my boys have ever slept in a crib (except for Gan at daycare) I have to e-mail the person so we can set up a time to meet. I'll let ya'll know how that goes. And I better get that free gift card, dang it!

The cats are gone. They were only there that one night but after being tortured by my 2 boys, they'd be smart not to come back. LOL My boys are used to Ralphie who is sturdy so when it comes to a 2lb (or less) kitten, they don't know how to be gentle.

Michele - I can't believe that you still are having elbow trouble. Ya know, if you were as messed up as half of our society, you'd be trying to sue Nintendo. Maybe you'll get our rain, it is a big sopping mess here! Stop being a show off with your BOlD, colors. HA!!

Robin - nope, we don't go to any of the little league stuff. DH and Gabe have been watching bits and pieces of it on tv. Ya know what my in-laws let Gabe do???? He went camping w/them 2 weeks ago at the campground in town and they let him go down to the river with some boy he met to swim. Oh I am so upset. #1 just b/c the river looks low doesn't mean that there aren't any deep spots, #2 he can swim but in a emergency he's gonna panic and then what would happen (since there weren't any adults there) and #3 who the hell lets a 6-year old unsupervised near the river??? You could not see the river from their site. I did not know any of this until Gabe told me. They want to take him over labor day and I'm not so sure. Gabe keeps saying, but mom, there isn't a river by this campsite. I know that I am super over protective of my kids and I am an extreme worrier. I was never like this before I had kids. Anyway . . . any news on your mom and the new home? I'm sure that type of adjustment will take some time. I"ll keep you and mom in my prayers. Too bad you didn't get that Maggie story on tape - too funny!

Diane - wow you are fortunate to have such a wonderful group of friends. Little Ella won't need anything. How has your b/p been?

JT - any news on the job you applied for?

Jen - young lady you better start eating some REAL food. Do I need to prepare it and mail it out to you?? Maybe you need to buy yourself a new cookbook and start making some new things since nothing sounds appealing to you. There are lots of healthy cookbooks out there to choose from and it is fun to try different things. And since it is only you, you can make whatever you want and not have to listen to anybody complain about your cooking.

August - your poor kitties. Wonder if they test these pet gadgets for safety? Wow, I saw on the news this morning about that plane that caught fire on the runway. Thank God everyone got off ok. Everytime I see something on the news about Japan I always say a little prayer that you're ok. Have you spoke to mom since she's been in OR? How's she doing? Ralphie is ok, thanks for asking. Must've just twisted something. He is a weirdo. Will not go outside in the rain. I carried him out this a.m. plopped him down in his usual spot and he ran in the house. Then I put him in his crate b/c I had to get a shower and he was not roaming the house when he didn't pee from the night before. I took him out again, still didn't go. Then I find a puddle under the kitchen table. I finally had to put him on the leash to take him back outside to do his business.

Wow, I think I've written a book and I gotta get working.

Shelley - I didn't say hi to you. Did you guys ever go to that Hillary Duff concert? I don't recall you giving an update if you did.

Have a wonderful day haters!

Hey haters!

I just ate the hugest salad ever (I know hugest isn't a word, really:p). Now I'm stuffed. But I have PMS so I could just keep on eating.

August - sorry for calling Cham a 'he'!

Michele - I think that Dana is onto something with the whole "suing Nintendo" thing!!!!

Robin - as mentioned in the <--- thread, I'm sending lots of happy moving vibes to your mom and lots of patience of a saint vibes to your sis!

Diane - you must have everything you need and more with all the baby showers. Now you just need the baby!!!

Dana - Hilary Duff was postponed. It was supposed to be July 23rd, but they moved it to Sept. 6th. And I would be ABSOLUTELY LIVID if anyone had let Sophie go play near a river on her own, and she's NINE! How incredibly irresponsible! I'd be opening up a can of whoop a$$ on the ILs if I was you.

Jen - I'm glad to hear you're getting a decent amount of calories. We just worry about you:) Those skirts are really cute!

Hi to everyone else!!!

Hi ladies -

No pictures yet from the baby shower, my friend didn't download them last night. We have our last shower this coming Sunday at church, then right after the shower DH and I are going to Babies R Us and buying any last things we need for the baby. Then we will have everything we need for when she gets here, and will just be waiting patiently for her arrival! After that all we really need to finish decorating the room is the wall letters (which are being painted to match the bedding and should be here any day) and the curtains (which my mom will be making, but she has been so busy with work she hasn't started yet). I can't wait until it is all done and put together! I will have to send lots of pictures. We just got a new digital SLR camera a few days ago so I will have to learn how to take pictures with it and post some of the room and my belly.

I am so bored today at work! I am thinking of leaving early and getting some stuff done around the house. We have a long to do list before the baby gets here and not many weekends, so anything I can accomplish during the week is a bonus.

Diane your nursery is going to look gorgeous. I hope that you'll post pictures.

So here is the update on the river saga. I called my MIL and asked her about it. Not once did I accuse her or point fingers and she said that she told Gabe he could ride his bike around the road at the campsite but he needed to check in with her each time he made a lap. She said she noticed he was taking longer then before and when she went to look for him he was all wet coming out of the river. She said she was livid and scolded him. When Gabe was telling his version I was like WTH b/c I never knew of her to be irresponsible like that. DH's dad maybe but never his stepmom. I am more mad at Gabe then anything for lying to me. I don't think he thought that I would even question it. Oh Lord what am I going to do with him??? I have explained lying to him on a religious base with heaven and hell and I've explained lying to him as how can I trust what he says when he lies, I've trying talking to him about how would he feel if he was lied to and nothing works. During our talks he says he feels bad that he lies. I don't understand why he continues to do it. HELP ME!!!!

Where is everyone tonight???? I thought that Jen would be here.

I'm supposed to be cleaning up the house. DH took Gabe for wings and Gan is watching The Wiggles. Perfect opportunity to clean.

August, did you see how I dodged your answer to our starting to workout???? Did I say that????? You sure it was me??? I'll get back to ya on that one. ;-)

I'll try to check in tomorrow. I am so busy at work and school starts back up on Tuesday so I"ve got tons to do. I wanted to take a day or two off before school started to do stuff w/my boys but it doesn't look like we're going to be having nice weather anytime soon.

I was secretly hoping it rains b/c the day that I have to take pics is scheduled for outside and if it is all muddy and rainy, well then it can't happen!!! Wishful thinking.

Well better get going - it is way too quiet in my house so I better go see what is going on.

Talk to you all later!
