I've gone the puzzle mat route for years, but we moved into a new home in October and my workout room is concrete with rug and padding over it. My puzzle mats are 3/4 inch thick. I am now suffering from achilles tendonitis. I'm guessing that there is too much cushion now???? Yesterday, I tried to do step on the carpet without the puzzle mats. By midday, my lower back was killing me (and I've never had back issues before). I just bought some 1/2 inch thick mats to try to see if they make a difference. I'm guessing it won't.
But, my room is not very big and I'm thinking that maybe I should just bite the bullet and get a real aerobics floor installed. I read what Cathe had to say on the subject and I had samples sent from stagestep. I was just curious if anyone who does a lot of step aerobics has had flooring installed and what the results were. It's really hard to find a flooring person who knows about flooring from an aerobics perspective.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
