Morning Maniacs -

Didn't get my butt out of bed until 4:00 am! So, now I have to cut my workout a bit short as I have to be over at Mom's early to help her do something. I'm off to do a circuit. I'll be back in a bit.

I ended up doing my first Book Circuit from Jillian's First Book. I did 3 sets of 15 reps in each circuit:
Circuit 1 - Pushups & Squats with 40 lbs
Circuit 2 - DB Chest Flyes with 17 lb DBs & Sumo Squats with 25 lbs
Circuit 3 - Bench Dips & Leg Extensions (used my Ambiance door attachment and green & red bands doubled up with the ankle straps sitting in a chair - but it still wasn't enough resistance....must think about alternatives)
Circuit 4 - Lateral Raises with 10 lb DBs - dropped to 8's last few reps - 1 minute of jumping jacks and basic ab crunches with 12 lb DB
Circuit 5 - Tricep extensions with 10 lbs DBs - 1 min jump rope with 3 pound weights in hand and scissors with ankle weights (don't laugh at my puny weights.....I do the best I can with my injury). that part took 50 minutes and then I added on 20 min beginner workout from Kung Fu Kickboxing. Total workout was 1 hour 24" and I burned 478 calories. (I plan on adding 15 minutes of Cardio to each circuit like Jillian suggests in her second book...and you can bet the Kung Fu one will be in heavy rotation).

Sorry this is long -- just ignore the couple paragraphs about the Kickboxing workout if not interested)
I can't say enough good stuff about Kung Fu Kickboxing with Tiffany and Max Chen (Tiffany Leads and she rocks -- love her). For those interested: these 2 are martial arts champions and the workout incoroporates Shan Shou Boxing style with wrestling and kicking techniques that build strenght, speed, agility, endurance and reflexes of a fighter.....you'll get a heart-pumping workout that will tone your shoulders, arms abs, glutes and legs. Feel the burn and see results fast (from the back of the DVD). Has a basic routing 20", Kicker - 20" and Killer 20" with a separate stretch and warm up segment. (Example of some moves - straight punches swithcing stances (basic stuff), you do these neck exercises to strenghten the neck muscles (good for my injury - and they say they do it so they are able to take shots to the head), but my favorite move is fast feet and then you drop into a burpee and then come up and scissor your feet a few reps and then go back into fast feet and keep repeating, front kicks (jumping), knee and twist to side on balls of feet, etc.

Tiffany is very impressive. Her and her brother were trained by thier father who was a Grandmaster fighter and Tiffany has over 40 gold medals to her credit in martial arts competitions. Her brother is equally talented. They teach at their Father's studio in NYC. I'm going to Google them, as I need to write and tell them how much I enjoyed this workout and to please make more. The production quality is outstanding and the music is great. Top notch fighter workout and you'll feel hardcore!! HIghly recommend it and it's cheap at Amazon. ....okay 'nuff said.

Deb - I bit the bullet and ordered INcubus' new album....hope I'm not sorry. If it's good, I can burn it for you....if you think you'd be into a bit mellower jams for a change.

Hi to everyone else and have great workouts. I've got to do some errand running and then go over my Mom's to help her with some stuff. She's doing much better .....walking with a horrid limp....but she's walking and it's painful....but she's on her way to being healed. She's in her 8th week and she should be fully healed at around 12 weeks.

Dallys -meant to mention that I liked the Circuit. I thought it was tough enough. I had to take 2 water breaks ...otherwise did it without breaks. I only got a bit sidetracked with the problem of the leg extensions not being tough enough. I had it set up from last night...but I stopped for a minute to add more bands for resistance....other than that, I lost count on which set I was on a few times but I pretty much kept my ADD in tact. Listened to Hinder's Extreme Behavior....not quite rockin' enough for me today...but I'm getting psyched for the concert.

Good morning!

My new bike arrived yesterday! So DH picked it up and didn't tell me. When I got home from work he was in the garage putting my pedals on it and doing all that stuff. So we took it for its maiden voyage after he was finished. Instead of lifting last night I ended up getting ANOTHER 54 minutes of cardio last night (after an hour and 20 minutes in the morning). Darn. I really didn't plan on that much cardio in one day - but who could resist! So I'm off to lift right now - shoulders, chest and back.

Dallys - my avatar has my new bike - after we got back from our ride. :) That seat - OWIE. They're going to be coming out with a women's version, but don't have one yet. I think I'm gonna have to switch to my old BIG one. I go to get fitted at our bike shop for everything today to make sure I'm all lined up and then I'll decide. They'll measure my sit bones too (oh joy!).

Happy Friday and happy workouts my friends!

Good Morning Maniacs!!

P90X leg day for me. Went for a walk this morning with my dad. Was nice. Going to pool with family later before work.

Suz,

Nice picture. Like the outfit. I look more like a redneck on my bike. lol...cut off jean shorts, etc.

Lora,

You had a nice workout. You work with weights that suit you, and you keep good form...all that counts.;-)

Hi Ladies
Woke up at 5:50 did Kick max low impact premix then coremax 3. I'm very tired for some reason so I am going back to bed.

Have a great day:)

Hey Maniacs! Went on a Mt. bike ride this morning. Got up a little earlier and was able to hit the dirt after my paved hill climb. Total ride was 1hr. 5 min. I need to get up a half hour earlier next time to make myself happy and extend the ride some.

Lora- Way to go on doing one of the circuits! With the leg extentions, I put every ankle weight I own on one leg at a time. It added up to 25lbs. I did it like Debbie Seibers does in SS (sitting on ground). Still not perfect but not to bad either. Plus, your weights aren't that whimpy at all. I thought you did great.:)

Suz- Beautiful bike! Is it black or dark purple? Can't really tell. I hate those skinny skinny mens seats! I rode with one on a four hr. bike ride once and NEVER have I been so sore 'down there'! I can't even go into the horror of how bad it was. LOL! I ride with a "LDY Selle Italia Trans Am" now. It's wider but not huge. How was it anyways? Did you feel a difference from the old bike?

Char- It's great your family is there. Hope you are having fun. I know how hard it is to workout with people over. I went through that last week. Throws your whole routine off.

Hi Randi.:)

Did shoulders, back, chest and abs. Felt good.

Lora - I don't lift heavy either right now. I think you're doing a great job. You are doing what works for you and most importantly what keeps you injury-free!

Charlotte - Sounds like you're having a nice day. Oh - I can't imagine the chafing I'd get with cutoff shorts. OUCH! And I need the padding in bike shorts. Once you get over the goofy look of the whole cycling outfit, it's not so bad. :)

Randi - Good job working out even though you were tired. Now you can relax.

Dallys - It's black, red and gold. I know that's not the best picture, is it? But I just had to post it. :) Maybe I can get DH to get a close up of just the bike. It's SO MUCH lighter than my other bike. I told DH it felt like it was 5 pounds lighter and he said he thought it actually was about that. It's funny though b/c I'm so used to blindly reaching for my water bottle in a certain spot and it wasn't there and my handle bars are a bit wider, etc. I didn't realize how I was so "one" with my bike b/c I'm on it so much. But this one felt sooooo good. I couldn't believe the difference. I also told DH that seat may hinder a certain part of our lives, if you know what I mean. He was pretty quick to take off my other seat so we could take it with us to the bike shop today "just in case" the other one is too narrow after they measure my sit bones (which I'm sure it is since it's a mens). Yeah, I bet! :p I'm probably one of the only people I ride with who doesn't complain about my seat, but it is a little heavy. :( Your seat sounds fancy!

Suz- It is funny how you get so used to your bike. I'm 'one' with my bike too. Don't even have to think where things are on it. My dh doesn't argue with me about seats any more after the "horror ride". He really didn't think that women might need a different seat. He learned. I do need to change to lighter pedals now that I'm used to being clipped in.

Char- Yeah? How in the world do you not get chafed riding in cut offs? We need to get you some spandex girl! LOL! You are a biking nerd now, you need to join the padded shorts club.

I've got to get back to work, but I'm so happy it's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!
