For the person/s who recommended buying a Harlan Coben novel, my greatest and most sincere thanks. Wow, what a gem of a writer. I am on my way to collecting all of his books. I just finished reading The Innocent and I am now into Promise Me. I can hardly put them down. They are great whodunit books.

Anyone know any other authors of this calibre and this genre of books?

I love Harlan Coben too. You may want to check out Dennis LeHane next. The first five are series, so try to read them in order. Also, for a good (and funny) detective type series, Robert Crais is good.

Happy reading!

I love Coben, too. Same as you, I got hooked after reading The Innocent and went back to Borders to pick up several more. At about the same time, I found T. Jefferson Parker and am enjoying his books, too. IIRC, Parker's name was mentioned by the character Alex Cross in one of Patterson's book and that's how I got started on his.

Thanks Jeanine. Will check out LaHane and Crais.

"Shutter Island" was a good book. I want to read "Mystic River" next. I recently read "Little Children" and "Election" by Tom Perrotta and recommend both.

Also, "The Glass Castle" (memoir) by Jeanette Walls was wonderful.

Waterlily- I am so excited you like Harlan Coban. I was one of the people who recommended him.:) If you like him, Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is like the female version of Myron Boltar (in Promise Me).
Thanks Jeanie- I am adding LeHane and Crais to my list of authors!!
