Gaining instead of Losing

Hi

I am pretty new to weight lifting and started out with Jari Love this summer. I used to run about 5 times a week but I found that I was getting alot of injuries. i am totally hooked on weight training. When doing Jari I gained about 4 lbs and figured I was gaining muscle. But now I have switched to higher weights this fall and have been preparing for STS and now I have gained 10 and my clothes feel a little tighter (not terrible though). I do cardio 3-4 times a week but I am in the snowy north and running when it is -21 is not fun. Am I crazy will the weight start to come off with this program?
I had hoped to loose 15 lbs before now I need to loose 25! I eat pretty clean as I have celiac disease so I can't eat wheat and I am lactose intolerant too.
Thanks in advance for the insights.

I had the same problem. I wanted to lose 5 lbs and no matter what I did, the weight would not come off. I gained some weight and went up a size in clothes. I was over 40 and thought this is the way it was going to be. Then someone somewhere mentioned www.thedailyplate.com. Jan 1, 2008, I logged everything I put in my mouth and lost 20 lbs in 8 months. It was slow going at the beginning. I'm at the weight I was 20 years ago. I'm maintaining now and I still log in every day. Check it out and I hope this helps.

Thanks Weener

It seems so weird to be emailing you back and calling you weener.... we just met.
I have been thinking that I should log what I have been eating. I have been doing the clean eating plan from the Eat Clean diet from Tosca Reno. You don't actually log your food but eat 6 smaller meals a day, with protein and complex carbs. Perhaps my portions are out of control.

I was logging for a little while with Smart People but all my strange creations (gluten free) were not available.

Anyways, I was just hoping that maybe most people went up before they went down when starting weights.

Thanks for your suggestions!
Heather
