Friend Told Me About Life Changes for Better Health

JT

Cathlete
Hello Friends of the Forum.

Tonight, a former co-worker of mine called me to tell me she is changing her life style to lower her blood pressure by eating better and working out. Due to job changes and insurance delays, she HAD to make a few decisions about her health. About two years ago, I bought her The Biggest Loser workout and now, she plans to do it. I encouraged her to preview it a few times as motivation. Already, she stated her blood pressure has dropped and she's starting to feel better.
When we worked together, and Cathe DVDs were delivered, she always told me "Oh, I could never do that," and I told her, "yes, you can by making changes." She read the DVD cover and cringe.
As time progesses, for a gift of encouragement, I plan to get her the Susan Komen Step with Cathe. Or, I will give her my current orignal Health Club Step and buy one of Cathe's basic step workouts for her and get me a new one.
Please pray that my friend continues and progresses on her new lifestyle journey to be healthier.

Thanks.

Cathe for Beginners

Jennifer:

I am keeping your friend in my prayers. What a blessing to have a friend like you for encouragement. If you can find it, the Target kit is a great way to introduce a beginner to Cathe’s fun workouts. It includes a small step, a stability ball, a pair of 3-pound weights, and the DVD equivalents of Low Impact Step and Total Body Stretching (with different names). I personally enjoy these workouts. Low Impact Step is a good way to learn Cathe’s choreography, and it is more fun than Basic Step. I affectionately refer to it as Baby Low Max.

I love your suggestion to watch the workout for motivation and inspiration. If you are not able to find the Target set (as I have not seen one in months), a stability ball plus Total Body Stretching would be a nice gift for her now. In addition to other lifestyle changes, stress management will help her blood pressure. Cathe has a soothing voice, and the relaxing segments are only 10 minutes each. Just a commitment to a 10-minute stretch segment every night will give her a pleasant way to unwind after a stressful day and help her establish the habit of daily exercise. Baby steps!

Hugs, prayers, and best wishes for your friend.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Hi Jennifer.

That is such wonderful news about your friend! You are a great friend for being so supportive and try to encourage her. Good for you!

My BF is in the process of losing weight, getting fit and healthy and changing her lifestyle. It's a long and difficult process for her as there is so much that needs to be changed but she is doing it!

I am training her 1 to 2 times per week and she is also working out on her own and with another friend who wants to lose some weight. She even invested in a treadmill for herself! I am soooo proud of her! I am going to be lending her Cathe's SS/PP dvd soon. She has been working out since the very end of the summer and has lost 30 pounds. I think she handle SS/PP now. I'm very excited for her!

Never stop supporting and encouraging your friend and hopefully her new healthy habits will stick around for the rest of her life! Let us know when she does her first Cathe workout! ;)

RE: Cathe for Beginners

Hello Heather.
Thank you for your prayers for Michele. And, your ideas are really great. Now, I must visit Target this weekend. Hopefully, she will watch the workout DVD soon. The weather is getting better here slowly so she'll be walking her dog more too.
Michele and I talked about it two years ago, even one year ago too, before she left. Now, it's happening.
She'll need lots of prayer and encouragement.
Thank you for yours.

They also have that Cathe set at Dick's, I believe. I got a set at Wal-Mart when I first started out with Cathe. It was the smaller step and one DVD. I think it was Basic Step. I believe I paid $45 for it but that was about 2 yrs ago.

Is it the Step Body Fusion Kit for $60?They don't mention Cathe on the DVD. I plan to stop by Target on Friday night but will save it on their site.

TIA.

The Target Kit

Jennifer:

I visited Target’s website. Yes, the $60.00 kit is the one I like. That same small step is sold in several stores (like Wal-Mart, Sports Authority, etc.) with a different DVD. In those stores, it is sold with Basic Step and Body Fusion. Basic Step is way too basic and almost instructional in nature. I have the DVD but have never done that workout. Body Fusion is good though. I did it once when recovering from a cold and enjoyed it.

I love the workouts that Cathe filmed specifically for the Target set. She renamed them and added a few premixes for her customers here. You can preview video clips:

http://www.shopcathe.com/Total_Body_Stretching_DVD_p/698.htm

The workouts are on separate DVDs with no premixes in the Target set, and they have different names. The DVD covers are the same though. You can see that on the box. Even though Target calls this the “Step Body Fusion Kit,” Body Fusion is not the workout that comes with it. I do not think the packages at Wal-Mart and the other stores include a stability ball or stretching workout.

Have a blessed Friday, and please tell your friend that a Cathe friend in Texas is praying for her! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: The Target Kit

Thanks, Heather, You've been a tremendous help.
Dick's here didn't have one in stock cause they sold out.
The Target here didn't have any either, but I helped out the
economy anyways.

Thanks again and I will pass the news along to her.

>her the Susan Komen Step with Cathe.

Hello and excuse me for butting in :). This is my first post here and I wanted to chime in on the Susan Komen step. I just got this a few weeks ago. It came packaged with a DVD called "Total Cardio Step" that has these three workouts on it: Basic Step, Body Fusion, Low Impact Step. (Body Fusion doesn't include the upper, lower & ab add-ons.) I think this is a very nice set and, as a breast cancer survivor, it has special meaning for me. Anyway, good luck to your friend with her fitness quest - you are very nice to offer her so much support!
