Fitness & nutrition book

Hi all,

I would like to give my friend a book on
both nutrition and fitness. Just wondering if
any of you can recommend something, preferably one
that does not push supplements in the nutrition section.

I have the e-book Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle which is
great for me but looking for something more condensed for her.
She walks for cardio and that is all plus she often doesn't
eat much in attempt to lose a few pounds. I would like for
her to have something that gets the point across about the
small meals throughought the day and strength training are
so important.

thanks

Cindy,
I know a few good magazines you might be interested in:

Muscle Mag (my fave!)magazine
Womans World (moms fave!)magazine
Get Ripped (my fav book)book
Mens Fitness (magazine)
Womans day (magazine)

Cindy,

I haven't actually read it yet because I just bought it but I would check out "Shape Your Self - My 6 Step Diet and Fitness Plan for Achieving Your Best." By Martina Navratilova. The book has information on diet, recipes, workout instructions with pictures. It isn't a particularly big book but considering that Martina just won the doubles tournament at the US Open this weekend at age 49 it probably has some good information in it.

I would recommend Five Factor Fitness by Harley Pasternak. It gets the point across in a simple and effective manner and doesn't push any supplements. Recommends 5 meals a day with healthy carbs, lean proteins, and fiber. Also get one cheat day a week. Exercise routine is only 25 min a day (or more if add more cardio) 5 days a week with really simple strength training exercises. It is great for someone trying to make a life change because very simple and easy to understand. I gave it to my mom who started it last week and already lost 3 pounds. She is able to do it with no health or fitness background.

Thanks a lot for all of your input.
This will help me decide.
I was thinking about Strong Women stay Young by
Miriam Nelson too but I think the exercises in the
book are minimal.
