Favorite time

I know this has been discussed before but i wanted a fresh discussion on the topic to read new thoughts on the topic. I wanted to know what your favorite time is to workout or what time do you workout? For years I have done morning workouts between 5-6a.m but these days i'm burnt out from it and i'm thinking of switching to late afternoon or evening workouts. I'm afraid that by days end i will just skip it but at this point, i'm so sick of getting up super early that i'm willing to take that chance. Plus, i know i get a better workout when i'm awake instead of just popping out of bed. so i'm just wondering when you all get your workouts in?

Morning for me, around 8am. For me, it sets the tone for my day. I have a light snack before, then a healthy breakfast after. It's all good. :D

Most of my work outs these days are done after lunch due to my schedule.

I'd have to get up around 5am in order to get in a full work out done first thing and I'm just not goin' there. :p

On the mornings I'm not working (like today) I usually try to do my work outs later in the morning, say between 9 and 11.

I worked out after dinner for years when I worked full time and it was fine for me then. Now it would be super tough to do on a regular basis. I do it on occassion these days but it's not easy.

For me it's 4 a.m. I know to many that sounds nuts, but I have to tell you that it gives me time to workout, shower and have breakfast before I get the kids up and moving for school. And honestly, when I am in my workout space at 4 a.m. and it's dark outside, it feels like the world is quiet and harmoniously in balance. It's a kind of Zen atmosphere, and just makes me appreciate the space I have and my own ability to move my body. Then I can truly tackle my day.

I have always done my workouts between 445 and 5 am to start, with the exception of weekends, when I do them around 9 or so to start. Mon is usually my off day. I know, I KNOW, it is hard to get up and it hardly ever gets easier, but once you are up for even a minute and splash some water on your face, you can do it. I look at it like this, I get it over with and I have more time with the kids later. The last thing I want to do is workout late after eating dinner. The more you put it off, the more you put it off... and so on... That would be pure torture for me to have that hanging over my head. And it would be THEN that I would resent working out.

Late afternoon for me. It helps me overcome the blahs at that time of day and gives me the energy to deal with the "witching hour" at the end of the day (dinner, bath, bedtime, etc.) Occasionally it doesn't happen, depending on homework, etc., but usually I can squeeze it in. The kids know to leave me alone, and for the most part they do.

I posted this in the personal trainers social group as well.

Hey all!

It's tough to find time to train myself. Here's my typical schedule (although it varies) for the weekday:

0400: wake
0430: cardio (30-40 minutes)
0510: leave house
0530: first client
0630: second client
0730: train cardio or weights
0800-1600: work
1630: evening client
1900: dinner
2000: sleep!

If a client cancels, I use that time for extra training. I used to do 2 hour workouts sometimes (1 hour cardio, 1 hour lifting), but I found that when I break it up into two w/os or sometimes three, my energy is higher during the w/os. Obviously on the weekends I have more time so I really kick it up then.

I use my schedule as an example to clients that it's about getting it done and doesn't matter if they do it all at once--accumulated exercise right???

The two most common questions I get (and my responses) are:
1. What's the best exercise to do? The one you'll do.
2. When's the best time to exercise? When you'll do it.

I workout when I get home from work around 5:45pm. It works best for me. Then I shower, have dinner and relax. On weekends I usually workout in the mornings although I have been known to do 2 workouts on the weekends, both in the morning and afternoon.
