Daughter got her prom dress this weekend. It is so elegant. Just want to know if the pearl necklace would go with the dress. The dress has large square-like diamond deco's along the v neck line and not sure if pearls go with this design. What do you think, does it go with the dress or not?

Personally, I don't think you need any further adornment with that neckline. Earrings would be great, but they'd have to be something fairly substantial or you won't even notice them. The dress looks really pretty.:)
 
That is exactly what I was thinking, Shelly. Thanks! BTW, DD tried on about 50 dresses that day in every color. This was the last dress she tried on!

Just my 2 cents worth, but I agree with Shelley. It'll be just lovely without anything else.

I agree with Shelley. No necklace but earrings would be good and maybe a bracelet too with the diamonds. It looks like a beautiful dress.
 
NO NECKLACE!!! Sorry, I get very emotional about fashion. Will calm down now. Earrings only with this dress.

Very emotional over this as well. Absolutely no necklace. Dress is beautiful!!!! Just large sparkly earrings and a bracelet. Gorgeous!
 
I agree with Divagirl about the large sparkly earrings and the dress being beautiful. Also, I'm sure your daughter will look like a million bucks if she inherited even a tiny fraction of your magnificent looks. Just had to come back to say that cuz I should have said it in my first emotional outburst. :D

Charlotte, the earrings should be clear and sparkly like the stones on the neckline. How big they should be will depend upon your daughter's bone structure. As a starting point, if your daughter is tall and big-boned, she could try something really long and dangely, but if she is small and petite, then the earrings should be parred down to go with her smaller face. I think she should try on a lot of different pairs until she finds just the right thing.

The dress looks lovely. I'm definitely a less-is-more kind of a girl and I would go with a bracelet and then MAYBE earrings. There's plenty of sparkle around the face already IMHO, but a bracelet would be perfect!!

Michele has great taste, so don't believe her when she says her opinion is humble. It's possible that the neckline will make such a bold statement that no earrings or just large studs might work best. I think the only way to be sure is for her to try on the dress with a variety of different earrings. I'm sure she'll look like a million bucks. Please post some pics!!

I would think definitely NOT hoop earrings. I was watching WNTW yesterday and someone had on giant hoops which were from then on referred to as "working girl earrings." LOL

Maybe diamond studs would be more suitable? The rule in decorating is that two fancy or powerful things cancel each other out, so you don't want to do that.

The dress is gorgeous! Definitely no necklace...

When is the prom? Isn't this only February? Is it the norm to buy this far in advance?? Sometimes I think I am so old.... we wore hoops to my prom, lol. Not hoop earrings! The giant kind under your dress!! I think in retrospect we must have looked like a bunch of Bo Peeps.

I think the prom is in May. DD wanted to get hers before they got picked over too much...heaven forbid!!!!! Her girlfriend was there too to help and suggested colors that would go with her boyfriend's hair which is red. So much to think of!!! LOL!

I'm with the rest of the gang here No Necklace enough in the dress Nice set of chandelier earrings would be great. I am huge on Fashion Rings and Bracelets! Gorgeous Dress!
