exercise ball?

Where did you get your exercise ball? I got one from Wal-Mart and it just doesn't seem firm enough, no matter how much air I put in it. I think that it should be firmer. When you lay on yours, how much should it squish down? Any recommendations where I can get a nice one for not too much cash?

Thanks,
Amy

I have two balls. ;-)

One I bought at Big 5 Sports for $15.00 (on sale). The other was an Everlast one from Ross for $12.00. Don't ask why I bought two, or why they are both inflated and in my living room. I don't know. These things just sometimes happen.

I like for mine to have just a wee bit of give. Since I'm 5'4" I use a 65mm ball and when I sit on it, my legs form a 90 degree angle. If it's over inflated, staying on top of it gets a little tricky.

It should squish down a little to give you some what of an area to lay on, it shouldn't be completely round when your on it. If it is, your going to have a problem when you start to exercise on it. But it shouldn't be like an air matress where you actually have it coming up around you. I guess the best way would be to look at a Cathe video or a picture with Cathe and the group on theirs, different people make it look different. Basically if you sit on it, it should be indented where your butt is, by an inch or so.

Second thing check the size of the ball. This very important, as a lot of time, they look full until you measure them and then realize it needs another 10 cm for it to be the correct size, and it already feels like you pumped that pump forever. I know it's annoying to measure, but it's the only way you know for sure if you got enough air in it. Roll it up to a wall, put a straight stick on the top of it make a mark on the wall, and then take a tape measure and see how tall your ball is. Most of the directions tell you how many inches the top of the ball should be from the floor.

I got mine from http://www.fwonline.com. It's burst-resistant so it's a little firmer than most but I like it. They can ship you one without a box for a little cheaper. The website also has a chart to help you determine what size you need.
