Endurance or Strength?

I will first say that I am new to this forum and this is the ONLY forum that I have joined. So please forgive me if someone needs to repeat themselves, because Cathe's forum is very extensive and I have not been able to find an answer to my question, so I had to join and ask the question myself.

I do successfully many of Cathe's workouts, however, there are some that I feel I look completly pathetic doing, as I am unable to do the exercises due to insufficient strength or endurance, I am not sure.

Successful: I do Pyramid Upper and Lower body (about 10lbs less than Cathe on each exercise- and can perform each excercise with great form), Muscle Max, Legs & Glutes, Bis/Tris, Legs/Shoulders/Abs, Chest &Back, Rhythmic Step, Step Blast, Power Hour, Super Sets, Push Pull& Low Max (I have more, but these being my favorite).

Unsuccessful: the IMAX 3 blasts I am unable to do. Cardio-wise, I am able to keep up, put the power in it, however, when it comes to the blasts, my legs can't do the work. What do I need to do so that I am able to complete the blasts? i.e. do the workout 2-3 times a week? Do legs 3 times a week? Should I be doing more weight in my pyramid, or do more reps, lower weight in the other workouts? On my eliptical, increase the resistance & RPE 8-9 for 30 min? What will speed me along so that I can accomplish this goal?

Hi jj. Sounds like you have a lot of great Cathe workouts thus far. My one question to you is how long have you been at this? I say this because it has take me probably 6 months to a year to really see great strides in my strength/endurance etc. I would say to keep putting IM3 in your routine weekly and also to keep varying the weight routines as to keep your muscles shocked (ie. heavy day, circuit, endurance...). You will get there, I promise!

Welcome jj!
First of all, congrats on being able to comple Pyramid Upper (PUB) and Pyramid Lower (PLB). Remember slow and steady wins the race. It is important that you continue to complete the exercises with great form. Continue to increase you weight a little bit at a time with the pyramids. With Imax, work on one blast at a time or adding a few more jumps (depending on what interval) to each workout then finish with steady state cardio you can complete. Imax 3 is a hard one to start out with if you are new to working out or new to Cathe. Low Max would be a good cardio workout to help your legs learn endurance as well as working on cardio also. It has blasts but much lower impact than the Imax workouts. Also, right now, make sure you are not doing Imax the day after a lowr body workout so your muscles can recover. So, my advice would be to keep on keeping on doing a little bit more each time (this could be adding weight or reps or tuck jumps or whaterver). I know other's will chime in with great ideas. Don't forget to rest when you are extra tired or too sore. Take at least one full rest day a week. Welcome!
