Endurance and Building combination ?

Hey everyone,
Tomarrow I'm doing a free demo small group personal training class at the gym w/ my mom and its Boot Camp. My only question is that you all know I'm into all the muscle building stuff yadi yadi ya. So doing classes like this once in a while be ok? I have Cathe's BC and I only do it like once MAYBE twice a month because I'm a builder not endurance..er;-) LOL. I probally only do endurance workouts (like Boot Camp) 2 times a month and I do step classes which count as my cardio 2-3 times a week, but I aim for 3 days a week of cardio (either step, tread, or elliptical). So would classes like the Boot Camp be ok in moderation? (wow now it sounds like I'm talkin bout food:+)It won't ruin muscle buidling right? Thanks for your help. Seems like whenever I have a question it turns into a life story:7 :7 :7

Hi Adri. Even though you are concentrating on "building", I think variety is still key for optimal gains. These routines are fabulous for, obviously, increasing endurance and ultimately giving you more power to become stronger in your lifting routines. I don't think anyone who has a specific goal in mind should completely leave out one type of training. Mixing it up is always key. HTH!

Oh no, I don't think it'd ruin muscle building at all. In fact, I think it'd even help since you're doing something different and therefore confusing your body and making it work harder. Personally, I consider a BC workout an active recovery type of workout for me, as far as muscle building goes, since I could go lower with the weights yet still maintain a kick-butt level of intensity. Also, for a big part of the year, I alternate a week of pure strength training with a week of endurance training (or two weeks of strength and a week of endurance), and that has really helped me get the results I want.

I agree that it won't hurt, and may actually be beneficial.

We need both endurance and strength in daily life, so it makes sense to train both.

Thanks so much you guys! I mean someitmes I really like doing endurance/ cardio workouts like Kickboxing (love it:)) and Boot Camp but I've never done BC at my gym so its probally really hard since the instructor said it would be}(. Well anyway thanks for your hlep this really helps!
