Dogs & shedding ?

Question for all you wise pet owners.

I have 2 australian shepherds. The older one shed her coat at the beginning of summer like a normal dog should. The other one has just now started to shed. And Boy is she shedding. I brush her daily and her undercoat still just keeps coming out. When I get home from work, she looks like a stuffed animal that exploded. I don't want to shave her; summer is almost over, and the last dog that I shaved, her hair never came back in the way it was before shaving. Does anyone have any ideas on what to use to help her along in this process? This is the first year she has shed like this. For some reason she has more undercoat than normal years and it just keeps coming out. I use a shedding rake type brush and her outer coat is not affected at all so I don't think this is a nutritional problem, Just a very hairy problem.
thanks for any advice.

My dog shed at the beginning of the summer, too, and I thought it would never end. There were like tumbleweeds of fur all over the house. Eventually, though, the shedding ended. IMO, you shouldn't shave or cut really short a dog's coat... there's a reason why they have it. My advice would be to tough it out... she can't have an endless undercoat. If you're considered about why her internal clock seems a little off with the late shedding, talk to your vet. Good luck!!!

I have a husky and a chow. I noticed that when I varied their diet, the shedding began. You might want to call your vet.

My dog is a lab/chow mix and she sheds endlessly...winter, spring summer. Of course she is so fluffy that you would never know she shed her weight in hair off on any given day....
