Do You Count Calories?

I don't count calories, either.
I try to stick with whole foods, and let my appetite guide me. When I do look at labels when I buy processed foods, and look at calories per serving and servings per package, then ask myself realistically how many servings I would scarf down at one time, and if the answer leads to too-high a calorie count, I usually pass on that item (but not always!)

Nope.

There have been times when I've tried and it helps to lose weight.

Sometimes when I feel like I've eaten a lot that day, I'll ballpark how many calories I've eaten and then adjust my dinner accordingly.

I could have written that reply myself. I use the desktop diary from Calorie King, I lost 60 lbs using it and have maintained my goal weight for 14 months by logging everything!

I have a touch of OCD, or maybe I'm just a control freak, so I have to work hard at not quantifying everything. When I start to count calories, it's a sign that I'm stressed out, that I'm feeling out of control of my life, and I have to consciously refrain from doing it. I counted calories for so many years of my life, I probably know how many calories I'm ingesting every day without even actively counting. But that's just me, for others it may be very helpful. It's a very individual thing.

I'm LifeTime Weight Watchers and maintaining and yes I still count (BTW today I counted too many!).... I tend to be like Nancy, OCD... but I'm just the opposite, if I'm not counting, quantifying, etc., I feel out of control.
