Dinner guilt

Bunbun

OK, I know this is silly and it's only one dinner and it was vegetarian anyhow, but I just came back from going out to eat with friends, and I feel awful. Had some really good Indian food--not greasy, even, so that part was good. But we shared a million dishes, AND I had a 12-ounce beer by myself, which I *never* do anymore. And then we all shared dessert and I had a couple of fried doughnut holes. UGH. I didn't really eat that much, but it just reminds me of how I used to eat more like that, and it really depresses me to know how easily I could slip back into it and back up 2 or 3 sizes, even with Cathe. It's so hard for me to eat clean--I actually hate going out to eat because it's so hard to find something that's not full of grease and/or sugar. Even at good restaurants, I wind up eating something that I know I shouldn't be having.

Sigh.

Am done whining now.

Hey Bunbun! Don't let it get you down!! It sounds like you hardly ever have dinners like that!! And it sounds like you and your friends had a lot of fun. You can't beat yourself up over instances like that, you deserves some fun nights without any guilt! Otherwise, you'll be sabotoging yourself by being too strict!

Eating out it TOUGH! My friends are Chili FIENDS, they hardly go anywhere else. And although I try to pick something healthy, it's always not really healthy, and I always get sucked into eating some of those yummy chips. But you just have to let it go, know you don't do that all the time, and be proud how you've changed your ways so that it actually IS a unusual treat!

:)

Honey, I'm right there with you. I don't know what happens to me when I set foot in a restaurant, it's like I turn into my evil, eating twin!! I also do not go out very often, which is part of it, and some of it is just having all those CHOICES. And they are usually much more appealing than what's in the fridge at home (at least my fridge).

The moral is: one meal does not a dietary disaster make. You didn't wake up 30 pounds heavier did you? Also, life is too short to worry about everything you put in your mouth and it's too short to deprive yourself of delicious food all the time or the company of friends. I'm sure you are back on track today and I hope you can focus on what a good time you had and not the quantity or what you ate and not just sit around obssessing. It'll be out of you within 24 hours anyway......LOL

No beating up of oneself allowed!! :)

LOL--love it, Lois! And Ruppie, I don't know if my ways are changed that much. :(

But, actually, I woke up TIRED!! (The beer really killed me.) And completely congested with a really sore throat. The restaurant was all full of cooking smoke, and I think it just set off my allergies massively. :p

My BF is a great (and healthy cook), but we still go out to eat far more often than I'd like--it's kind of part of what we "do" living in NYC. I like his food better, though, most of the time. Just tastes better to me and I know it's far healthier.

I know what you mean about it being difficult to eat clean. I have a wicked sweet tooth.

However, at restaurants (we eat out often), I'm very picky and usually get salads with low fat dressing and stuff like cheese quesidilla's with low fat cheese. Other things I enjoy out are pasta with marinara sauce (small serving) and a salad. Don't be afraid to be picky when you're eating out. You are paying for it!!

I feel your pain. I'm on vacation this week and I'm not sure any clean food has actually passed my lips. It's horrible. But for some reason, I have absolutely no willpower this week.

Don't worry though. We shall survive and live to eat clean another day!!!:)
