Did anyone see...

...the post over on Ask Cathe where someone recommended "organ manipulation"? Seriously. I didn't follow the link but apparently someone is spouting a theory out there that what you think is belly fat is actually your organs going south, and that you can manipulate them back into place. (Sort of like Operation, but hopefully without the buzzing nose.) If this is true, I am hoping to report that most of my organs are located near my belly button!

LOL!

ETA - I'm not criticizing the person who posted the link, just the theory. ;)

OMG! LOL!

ETA Just for clairfication I'm LOL at Marie's organ location report, not at the fact this could be a real medical problem for someone.

I don't know about the link or info under "ask cathe" but I do know that years ago my grandmother was diagnosed with this problem. I have no details whatsoever, I just know that the general info was that her stomach pain and puffiness were due to slipping organs. Of course this was back in the 70s dark ages and could have been misdiagnosed. :D

My old step instructor at my gym had to have surgery to correct a problem where her reproductive organs were "falling" and totally out of place. Sounds very similar. This was only a few years ago and she was in her late 30s. Sounds wild, doesn't it?

I don't know about reproductive organs but I know someone who's bladder slipped and she had to have it lifted and stapled (or something like that) in place. I believe it was after a hysterectomy.

BTW Sparrow, I'm still trying to get over you calling the 70's the dark ages :)

Well, I've heard of women's reproductive thingies heading south due to multiple childbirth, but I don't know, I can't imagine blaming my belly fat on the fact that my brain slid down the spinal cord....

:p

I didn't go to these links or anything, but someone in my bootcamp class asked me yesterday about female reproductive organs being damaged just from doing straight leg pushups!!!!

Fortunately, she was checking to see that she was right to tell her friend that was ridiculous...
