Good morning ladies...

Today will be Butts & gutts for me..Looking forward to getting to that one after the kids school lessons later today...

Be back later to check in...

Good morning friends! Vilma, that's a good workout you have planned! Enjoy.....

I'm checking in with the original IMAX this morning. Chris, last night I had to laugh at you taking the orders from FF to cut down your cardio, but..... this morning while I was doing it, I argued with myself the whole workout.... "I'm built like Chris, I should cut down my cardio like FF says" but "I can't stop myself once the workout is rolling" but "I got up a little late and I'm running out of time" but "I really want to see if I can do this whole workout because last time I did it (months ago) it killed me." In the end, I left off the tenth combo, and I did fine with the rest of it -- never really out of breath -- I feel so good!!!

I was sore when I woke up this morning from yesterday's leg work -- especially the calves! But, all over. I'm surprised because it didn't feel like I was working that hard. Good to know it did something! :)

Today is Larry and my 10th anniversary. There's a dance for the older kids tonight, so I couldn't get a babysitter. He's going to bring home sushi so we'll celebrate that way. Hope you all have a happy Friday!

-Beth

Hey Ladies!

Wow..it's Friday already! (No TGIF in my world! ).

YES! I did IMAX , but did 5 and 1/2 intervals only. Yes, only 5 and 1/2 , just like I was "supposed to". It was tough, Beth! ... I kept looking at the clock. And then I'd say "Oh , well, why not one more....". But i talked myself out of it. Which was hard, because I LIKE IMAX intervals, I LIKE to jump!! I do want to see what happens if I cut down the cardio, though.

My lower body isn't really sore today. Weird...Maybe it's coming?

Vilma: Those workouts sound like goodies!

Kathy: You go on B&G's! I do really like that workout, so many diverse lower body moves.

Beth: You are TOOOO funny about IMAX! It is hard to stop! Happy 10th Anniversary to you guys!!! You are newlyweds!!! Any chance you can escape out to dinner this weekend?

It's going to be busy for me today. I'm sitting her procrastinating my Clinical Narratives..AGAIN! But I have to get them done .. HAVE to. I ended up yapping on the phone yesterday too long, and didn't do any of it!

And I had hubby bring down the Christmas decor from the attic. So we're going to decorate the tree this evening with the kiddos! Hopefully we don't have climbing CATS. This is the first year with the kitties!

Chris, tell me again what the rationale is for less cardio for us, anyway.... is it making us too hungry? I like to jump, too.... I like the intervals, too. And yes, the original imax is great in its simplicity!

Have fun decorating! It'll be interesting to see how the cats do with the tree. We'll probably do all that this weekend, too. Not sure we'll be able to sneak out on our own. Our plan is to plant the boys in front of a movie while we have a quiet sushi dinner at home tonight. We'll see how it pans out!!

-Beth

Hi ladies!! I was thinking about Imax today, but for some reason grabbed Athletic Step Jam from Sharon Twombly. Good workout. I did do about 55 minutes. I had thought FF said to only do 35-40 minutes of cardio on the days we do weights for this rotation?

I took a day off work today and I'm doing way more work around here than work! DH mentioned we needed a new toilet and I said, well, why don't we redo the whole bathroom since you have to take out the toilet anyway? I was half kidding, but it really does need it - it's got seashell wallpaper (enough said?). So, I've been stripping wallpaper for the last 3 1/2 hours. Needed to take a break. It's only about 1/2 done. What have I gotten myself into?!

Chris, uh oh, I've heard stories about cats and trees! A dog that we used to have once pulled all the ornaments of the bottom of the tree while we were out. Every single one of them was shattered on the floor, but thankfully she didn't have a cut or scratch anywhere on her. We've moved away from glass ornaments now!

Hi everyone else! Have to get back to my scraping...ugh!

I'm happy its Friday but because of the weirdness this week, I feel very little has been accomplished. I am happy though because I travel up to SF this weekend to see a college friend of mine. So, yesterday they were convinced I had a UTI or was pregnant... I was pretty sure it was neither but something hormonal, but they did the tests (taking two hours of my life) and found it was neither. But gave me a UTI script anyway. I feel a little better...but not after I felt worse. Have you ever done something stupid/destructive/pointless because you're down? I have no idea why, but since I was feeling so bloated and fat I wanted pizza last night (DH helped last night). And then I had a cold slice for breakfast. But I ended up trying to do High Step Challenge and I actually did 90% of it. I wanted to do something that was constantly changing since my brain seems to get bored so easily. It felt nice to do some weight work too even though I think I went too light. I hope I can do some cardio later tonight, but I'm going to keep my reserves up because I was planning on doing Imax2 early in the morning before getting in the car to drive up to SF.

PERSONALS!! :)

Vilma -- that sounds like a good workout! Hope you had fun with it!
Kathy -- enjoy B&G! I definitely feel it after that workout...and during it too.
Beth -- Happy anniversary!! Mmmmm...sushi! What's your favorite? I go gaga over unagi.
Chris -- Sometimes procrastination makes you efficient...like in the last half hour! Have fun with the decorating. I had stopped it a couple years ago because I ended up having to clean up too much crap but now my sister and her children might be coming to visit for Xmas so I'm freaking out because I have to buy so much Xmas stuff because I don't want them thinking Xmas really isn't a festive holiday.

Hmm...I'm going to scrounge for food...

Hottie! You're coming to SF?! Are you going to be in the city? It'll be so much fun -- it's so festive now. Hope your drive goes well. If you need an extra place to stay, let me know (but I'm way off the beaten path, of course!).

Joanne, pulling off wallpaper is awful! Do you have a way to steam it? Good luck! What's the plan for the non-planned update? Paint?

-Beth

How did I miss Joanne??!? I'm a big paint person. I think some wallpaper is timeless and lovely but even that requires upkeep. With paint, you just blackmail your husband to do it.

Beth -- I thought about talking to you but apparently, I have very little time to myself during this trip. This is apparently semi-acting like my birthday gift from my friend (bday is the 23rd) and she's planning a bunch of "surprises." It starts in Oakland apparently. But she's at UCSF so I'm thinking we're in the city proper. And then on Monday in the morning DH is dropping by the SF to work a bit and then we're driving down back to LA hopefully before it gets too late. I'm not sure what we're doing Monday morning...hopefully not too much because I did want to sight-see a little.

Bleh...lab meeting coming up...

Hottie, not to worry -- I know how it is when you do a quick trip. I hope you have a great "birthday" weekend!

-Beth

Hey Again!!

Big news!!: I got my Clinical 3 Work DONE!!! There was something about that thing that has been giving me almost panic attacks. I swear! when I thought about doing it, I'd get almost chest pain and feel like I couldn't breath and just feel very anxious! (sounds like a panic attack to me!). Anyhow, I finally got it done and let me tell you , if I don't "pass" this time, i'm DONE with it (and will be pretty PO'd about not passing).

Beth: Is less cardio making you more hungry?? Although I think I was more hungry today, but it's because I was stressing with the Clinical 3 stuff. UPDATE on the kitties and the Christmas Tree. They love it! They think I brought it in from the yard for a toy! I came up from downstairs to take a "break" from my work, and looked in the front room.... 2 CATS IN THE TREE! Staring at me like they were meant to be there! It's a wonder the thing didn't tip over! So they got squirted with the bottle and haven't been near it since. I guess we'll see.....

Joanne: Good luck with the bathroom!! I bet it will look so nice and worth the work after it's done. Yeah..that's what I thought about the cardio at first too. JUST on weight days. But if you read the end of the rotation she makes this note:

"However, on cardio days, limit it to 30-35 minutes only. Keep cardio to 4 to 5 days a week at 35-45 minutes so adjust as you see fit."

I goofed up on Tuesday with that, and asked Debbie if it mattered, and she explained that too much cardio can backfire on you (taken as your body will hold onto weight) . That it's better to do it as she said. So I'm doing "as ordered"!!

Hottie: Oh my goodness on the doctor. What a PIA that they couldn't come up with anything definitive. So you are feeling better with the antibiotics? Your workouts sound good. You can only do what your body can tolerate. It's trying to recover! Take it easy. I'm awful when I don't get to workout too. It backfires on me, and I end up eating "off" for some reason too!

Okay..time to go put the lights on the tree!!!

Hi all!

Chris, good luck with your clinicals. When will you know? Is there a test you take along with turning in your work? Keeping my fingers crossed for you! That's great that you finished! Oh, OK, I get the cardio now. I'm going to try to follow as prescribed, too. ;)

Hottie, that's a pain that they couldn't find out what was wrong. I remembered after reading they thought you might have a UTI that one time I had a kidney infection and the symptoms were just like you described yesterday. I've never felt so awful in my life. The antibiotics work quick, so if it is some type of infection, hopefully you'll feel better soon. Have a wonderful time in SF! Isn't it a pretty long drive from LA?

Beth, you live near SF? My BIL and family live in Fairfield, are you close to there? We've gone to visit a couple times and I love it. Haven't gone for 10 years or so though. Time for another trip, I think!

I'm using a steamer for the bathroom. Some of it comes right off and other areas are much tougher. I'm still not done. It's amazing the types of wallpaper and paint I am finding under the paper. About three different colors and at least two other wallpapers. I can see why they papered - the walls are a mess underneath. It's a small bathroom - no shower. So, we're just painting and getting a new toilet and vanity and fixtures. Ian really wanted to help me, so I let him do part of a wall and he loved doing it! He did really well.

Hopefully someone will read this after all my babbling! Back to the wallpaper...

Have a great night everyone.

Joanne

Chris, congrats on getting the clinicals done!!! Yes, that sounds like panic attacks, and I hope they are behind you now! Funny about the kitties in the tree -- I'll bet they were really cute, but of course you don't want them tipping it. I don't know if the less cardio is making me less hungry -- I don't really think so -- I just couldn't remember if that was part of the rationale.

Joanne, I'm a little more than an hour south of SF, in the Santa Cruz mountains, and Fairfield, as you probably know, is north of SF -- we drive through Fairfield to go visit my sister, and I had a college friend from Fairfield. Great that you got Ian to help with the bathroom! It's amazing how those llittle powder rooms can be wallpapered in layers and layers and layers -- I guess because it's a smaller room, people tend to do those more often it seems. I sound like I almost know what I'm talking about, don't I? I'm the last one to do that sort of project. In our SF house, we hemmed and hawed about re-doing the kitchen for so long that finally on Father's Day one year Larry took a sledge hammer to the wall we planned to tear down to make it one big room instead of two little ones. Two years later, we finally moved out with that hole still in the wall and nothing done!!! I kid you not.

I have a candlelit table and I'm waiting for the sushi -- oh yeah, and Larry -- to arrive! :)

-Beth

Joanne: I think I find out in January if I passed. No, no test. Phsewwww! Just a bunch of fluff telling them why I'm a good nurse after 23 years of it. Who knew??... Your bathroom sounds fun! (not!). You have the patience of a saint to let Ian help!! How old is he?

Beth: OMG.you are too funny! Have you been drinking?? You're waiting for sushi and then. oh yeah, Larry! (LOL!!). And that IS funny you did sound like you knew what you were talkign about. I'm really bad as far as decorating. I have all plain off-white walls in my house, with mini-blinds and wood trim. For 14 years! Not a curtain in site! Pretty pathetic, since my mom and sister are all curtainy people and painting people. :p

Oh! I thought you meant the MORE cardio made you MORE hungry, thus the reasoning for not doing as much. Me confused!

Our tree is up and decorated, and the cats have mischief in their eyes. I'm praying there's no big BOOM! in the night tonight!

My boys are up watching Drake & Josh: Christmas... They're in my seat wathcing my TV..that's why i'm here typing...

Now who will read MY late post?!?!? :p

Ha! Of course I'm going to read them because ::pout:: I'm going back to work in a couple minutes. Sometimes I really detest my experiments. I honestly think I did nothing wrong but its just wants to screw with my schedule and knows damn well that I want at least interpertable results that would force me to come back in the evening. I didn't mind this kind of stuff when it only took a walk to get to lab but since SC is in the ghetto (its really not that safe an area), I have to hop onto the freeway because I want to live in a safe place. Oh well!

Joanne -- I should have corrected this earlier, I didn't actually take the antibiotics. I'm very much against taking antibiotics if its unnecessary and since I started feeling better today I figured 1) I was right, and/or 2) I'm healing on my own regardless. I just did HIS right now and I FINALLY had the "right kind" of sweat if that makes any sense. I felt like I couldn't flush out my water through sweat all week and finally it kicked tonight. So I feel better. Even if I have to go to the evil place (read: lab).

The wallpaper thing is funny though (I guess after you've put all the work in). My sister's first house was this beautiful home in Pasadena. When she moved in, we realized the previous owner was insane (like he was trying to I guess lock his wife in so every window was barred). We took out all the bars and it looked better instantly. Makes sense right? Well, then we lifted his ugly carpet. Underneath? Gorgeous hand-sanded hardwood floors. My favorite one is this -- she had this fireplace in the living room (and now because Joe will hurt me if I don't mention this: why you need a fireplace in LA I don't know) and the previous owner painted over these tiles with this puke green color. You could feel a pattern underneath so my sister tried to remove the paint first to see what it was. The paint came off clean and underneath -- beautiful handcrafted tiles all up the fireplace. Each of those small tiles were then appraised to something like $200/tile.

So, I guess I'm saying, after you're done removing all the crap, I hope you find gorgeous handmade tiles in your bathroom! LOL!

Beth -- I hope you're having a wonderful night with Larry...but I understand the sentiment. I don't really need Joe if I have good enough sushi in front of me either!! I hope the drive won't be too bad tomorrow. And I hope I can workout before we get in the car. I kept on grumbling about how that high speed light rail was going to finally exist the year I moved on CA. Oh well. But I'm hoping we may have more trips to SF...Joe is going to the SF office on Monday so if it ends up being fruitful there may be more trips.

Chris -- WOHOO for getting the clinicals done! Cats are pretty funny and mischievous. My sister's one cat would just pee on anything if she was, well, pissed and the other cat used to like to sleep on my face so I would wake up feeling like someone was smothering me. That's cool that your tree is decorated! My DH and my BIL think my sister and I are weird because we're very picky about how to decorate the trees...I guess we get very Martha Stewarty and decide on themes and accent colors, etc. They both are like, you take big, clunky ornaments and you stick it whereever you want. My favorite theme is Victorian era but a couple years ago I went with a more modern mosaic like theme and it worked out pretty nice. Ok, now you probably think I'm weird too like the men! Ah...

Okay, packing up to go to the evil place...
