WATER OR COKE?
Eye Opening Information!

This is really an eye opener... Water or Coke? We all know that water is
important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically
dehydrated.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often
mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight
hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied
in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime
fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10
glasses of water a day could significantly ease back
and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger
fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math,
and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on
a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases
the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash
the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%
less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of Coke:

1. In many states (in the USA ) the highway !
patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to
remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of
Coke and it will be gone in two days.
!

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola
into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit
for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in
Coke removes stains from vitreous China .

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car
bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of
Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola

5. To clean corrosion from car battery
terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the
terminals to bubble away the corrosion

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth
soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several
minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of
Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in
aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the
ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the
drippings to mix with the Coke for sumptuous brown
gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can
of Coke into a load of greasy clothes, add
detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The
Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.

9. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.

For Your Info:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric
acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in
about 4 days.
Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from
bones and is a major contributor to the rising
increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate)
the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material
place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of Coke have been using it
to clean the engines of their trucks for
about 20 years!

Now the question is...
Would you like a Coke or a glass of water?

I must say I was a bit surprised by the number of people who responded either 'coke' OR 'pepsi' to Shelley's poll.

They may be good for cleaning toilets, but not something to put in your body.

Give me a plain glass of water any day.

(Though I wonder: is coke cheaper than white vinegar? I might try it for cleaning my toilet!)

I have a cousin who's in her 40's & already losing her teeth from drinking pretty much nothing but Coke for the last 20 years.

I've pretty much given up Diet Coke (down from 1 every/ every other day). I know it's not good for me, but it still tastes so good! ;-) I haven't had a regular Coke in years though!

Oh, and that Coke ham *is* delicious. My Aunt made it for Thanksgiving!!

My brother does "experiments" with coke all the time. His latest...putting his loose change in a bowl of coke and leaving it for a few days.....the result----beautifully, shiny coins!!! The coke had taken away all the rust and dirt and turned those lackluster coins into pretty pennies.

I drink plenty of water but I just LOVE my diet coke! I know all the bad stuff and have given it up before, but I always go back. Don't know what it is, but apparently I can't/won't live without it! jasper

I have read that snopes in the past. I see exactly what it says, but a girlfriend of my daughter did a science experiment with Coke. She soaked an animal bone in it and by the third day the bone had turned black and it was extremely brittle and broke. That to me says all I need to know to not drink it ever again. Even if my stomach acid is strong, most of the disgestion doesn't happen IN the stomach and food moves quickly through it. How do you know that your stomach "killed" all the acid and that some wasn't absorbed by the blood? And I think that fact that people who drink Coke over time have more teeth problems and later in life have sporous bones speaks for itself. Yes, it has trace amounts of ph. acid, but who has only one 8 ounce coke? It adds up over time, especially for those who drink a 12 pack in a week. I think in this instance I will ignore snopes and err on the side of caution and common sense.

Not refuting you, just the author of the article.

LOL The teeth thing has more to do with sugar than anything.

And as everyone says, "Moderation is key." If one is subsisting on Coke, then of course they will have problems.

Common sense, people.

Ummm, that sounds a bit suspicious to me. I'm all for water, and I never drink soda, but where did the information come from?

Before I quit drinking Coke and all soda Jan 2006 I have heard some of these, however, I will not make a ham without it and brown sugar
