Cathlete
G'morning, cheetahs :)

*Is* it morning? I had another bout of insomnia and have been up since 3:30. BOO! :p

Today is a run + PLB. Not sure if I will do 'em back-to-back or split 'em up. Will play by ear.

Amy :: yes, I'm an 8th grade language arts teacher. Elaine asked me a similar question about summer yesterday, so if you don't mind, I'm just going to cut & paste my response here: <<I am doing some paid work here and there (two committees, some tutoring) as well as unpaid work (e.g. I’m participating in a professional book club discussion, reading/studying up for a certification process I’ll be undergoing this coming school year, and then the normal summer prep and planning. Our subject area is smack dab in the middle of a curriculum overhaul process, so we are making a lot of changes. I keep busy. But I definitely am moving at a relaxed pace>>...Yes, I did remember that you are an elem reading teacher and are doing a summer yoga program. That must be fun...I'm a travel nut & Hawaii is definitely somewhere up there on my to-do list ~ I would like to do a cruise through the islands.

Am caught up with personals, so have a great day, ladies! BBL...

Hello Cheetahs,

cathy- sorry about your insomniax( . unfortunately i had it too...finally just got out of the bed at 4:30 a.m.
i've gotta to go teach my classes beginning at 6am and i am hoping i do not pass out in the middle of class:eek:

today's workout will be my treading class. we will run sprints and mini hills today:D

shelly- i have a regular hybrid bike i bought from target. if i see that i get into cycling outdoors and/or triathlons then i will splurge on an upgrade. however i will say when we went bike riding yesterday (my running buddy was with me also training for the tri) she was riding her bike with such ease and i was really working...:7

have a great day all, i will try to check back in later!

Good early morning ladies!

I work an early shift with the kids today, so I am up! Last night was not a great sleep here either with getting over the jetlag.

Oh well - somehow we just go go go! I had my 2 cups of coffee!

Everyone have a great day!!!!!

Amy

Klutzo strikes again! Took a spill out on my run...tripped over the sidewalk and went down hard! http://www.getsmile.com/emoticons/smileys-91853/_950/crazy.gif *lol* I did manage to drop mostly on someone's lawn...so it seems the only damage is a bit of a grass burn on my shin, a touch of a sore knee, and, I think, a jammed-up pinky finger. I'll get cleaned up here and will ice it. Will save PLB for later. Hey, at least some early morning commuters got their entertainment for the day. http://www.getsmile.com/emoticons/smileys-91853/c0/haha.gif

G'morning Cheetahs! I might be a copy-cat of Cathy's workout today!! (behold the power of suggestion...) I did a 4.25 mile run + 100 walking lunges already and now want to do PLB! I haven't done that one since before doing the X! I did BM2 y'day (C & W premix). I'd forgotten how much fun BM2 step is! I'm gearing up to start my next round of the X on August 20th. That's the day the girls go back to school so I think it will work out great for me.

We spent a good 3 hrs at the pool y'day, it was such a hot day! The pool felt awesome. I think we'll head back again today.

OK, off to do PLB before the kiddos wake up! They've been sleeping in til after 8 lately!! ;-)

Ouch, Cathy!! I hope you feel ok & don't have any permanent damage! I hate taking a spill while running. Enjoy PLB later!

Good morning cheetahs.... a bunch of insomniacs here today!!! I've been up all night myself, but then again I have to be;-) I'll be going home to sleep in a couple of hours! Today will be a rest day... may do some ab work if I wake up early.

Cathy- Oh dear, you havent' exactly started the day off real well have ya? Glad to hear there weren't any serious injuries... that's the last thing you need! Re: HSC, there are 2 sets of leg presses I believe. Do you think you'd be interested in a group cheetah run on Fri morning the 10th?

SunnyD- Have fun with your treading class today.... go crack the whip }( Do you get any inspiration from Grace (iTreads) for your classes?

Amy- I just love your enthusiasm!! Great job on getting back into running yesterday... kudos to you for doing it midday!!!

Elaine- Wow, your little Rex is stubborn!! He is determined to not have to wear a collar, but I know you'll prevail in the end!!!

Jess- Wow, quite a workout for you today considering you did BM2 yesterday. Have fun at the pool today!! stay cool :)

Time to get busy here... I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Hey guys. Sorry to be MIA lately. A little birdie came and told me to make sure I post, regarless of how quick or short (or impersonal) my posts are. lol

I've been doing well. Consistent with workouts and eating and I'm feeling FIIIIIIIIIIINE! :)

I saw the news about that bridge in MN. What a shame. Makes you think, doesn't it? How dependent and trusting we become of everyday things like a BRIDGE! SHEESH!

I think I mentioned a while back that I applied for a school job?? I originally applied for an Instructional Support position, but found out Monday it had been filled by a part time Monitor that was already in the building. So I applied for that Monitor's position. lol I interview first thing tomorrow morning. It's part time, but I'm hoping to land it and then advance to FT eventually. I really want to work in the schools, and NEED to work around my kids' schedules!

OK....workout. Up early. Step Blast and I really brought it home! What a sweat fest I had.

My TM is down, and I'm depressed about that. lol We've got it apart in a few pieces and been in contact with the company, trying to figure out what's wrong. BOO HOO.

Cleaning for my friend today, then a lazy summer day. I've taken on full responsibility for the Boys' Fall Baseball league for the town, so I'm busy with that.

BRING IT ONNNNNNNNNN!

Gayle

Jess :: *lol* I am used to falling down…This is minor – a bruise and a little bit of a burn. No big deal. But the pinky does hurt, though, and is swollen, so I’m trying to type with 8 fingers. That’s not going too well. *lol* :p Enjoy PLB, too.

Shelly :: Hey, I gave myself a laugh, so all’s well…thanks for the info on HSC…that is one I’ve been considering…Where are you planning to run – near your hotel?

Gayle :: good to see ya! :) It is awful about the bridge collapse…I have this sort of irrational fear of bridges and have often had nightmares of disasters. I feel so sorry for all the victims and survivors…I hope you get the monitor position…would be great to that foot in the door. Happy (& quick) healing to your TM.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...wow!! Sorry about the insomnia and then the fall! I hope you are not too bruised up. I have been a bit tense lately on trails after my last hard fall, and sunday I was thinking how I would hate to fall down, break something and miss the RT!! The festivities start at 6 on friday night.

Sunny...sorry about your insomnia too. I have had a bit too just thinking about the RT. Have fun in your treading class.

Jess...enjoy PLB today, that is a favorite of mine.

Shelly...have you ever had flooding problems? I'd love some of your rain. I am not sure what time the step class starts friday but hopefully we can get in a run before and you can do both!!...:)..I plan on an interval or other form of speedwork at least once a week. Great workout yesterday. Enjoy your rest today.

Gayle...that was terrible about the bridge collapse. Hope you get your TM fixed soon.

Jackie...like Cathy posted the shirts at Target are about $12.99, and very comfy for running. I hope you enjoy the deep tissue massage, I think it is great timing 2 days before a race!! Good job on the speed drills, I did some intervals myself.

Amy...I bet your jet lag will be gone before too long. I normally run in race t-shirts from races I have run in so the Champion one was a nice change and comfy too.

Susan...good job with BC and KPC yesterday. I am not quite ready for the trip yet myself. I am working on it though and yes, I'd love to take the foam roller. I guess I might need my bike helmet for those early morning missiles!!..http://smilies.sofrayt.com/eng/scared2.gif[/img]...actually, I am very quiet early in the morning...:)

Christine...sounds like an irritating day, I hate those. Was the Nail Salon just busy?? Tues with PLB I went 40, 45, 50, but for the leg presses I use a green, purple and silver band. Once I use heavier weights I normally take a longer break in between reps.

Elaine...funny, your picking up golfing again sounds like me picking up fishing again. I have recently started fishing with my DH, catching some nice fish and having a lot of fun as he has learned a lot and is a great teacher.

I am doing Amy's APX leg workout and 40 min on my EXT.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning ladies!

My grass is soooo happy this morning. We finally got some rain. Doing a happy dance!!!:7

Shelly - You do have it harder working nights. It was hard for me adjusting to getting up earlier and I don't work nights. Hope you get something figured out for that long run. Sunday will be the 3rd race out of the 10 in the Road Race Series. This one will be 5 miles and then in two weeks the second 5 miles. You still amaze me with your workouts after a run! You go girl!

Susan - Are you better today? Sorry the girls weren't cooperating. I have a son and a daughter. I always thought my son was much easier. He was always so laid back and easy going. The daughter on the other hand would get an attitude in a minute. When she would do that, sometimes I would make her sit on the couch and just smile until that attitude went away. I'm sure you're missing your runs. Will keep my fingers crossed for you after the RT. How's your dear friend?

Christine - Sorry for the annoyances. Glad yesterday was better. Did you get your nails like you wanted them? I was off work for 6 months and started doing morning workouts. I loved it so much that when I went back to work I just had to figure out a way to continue. I love having those workouts over and done.

Amy - Glad you were able to get a run in. Next week will be better. Hope you enjoy Leslie.

Elaine - Are you better today? How old is the baby?

Cathy - Thanks for posting that link for the Champion shirts. I like that color too. See if you have a Massage Envy in your location. They seem to be opening franchises up all over the place. Sorry to hear you're still having some insomnia. If it makes you feel better. I was awake at 3:30.x( Sorry about your fall. Hope the finger is ok. ((((HUG)))) Glad you were able to laugh about it. Sometimes that's all we can do.

Sunny - Sorry for your insomnia too. Hope classes go well today. Meant to tell you I tried those Sport Beans energy gels Saturday. They taste like jelly beans. I think I'll like those better than the Clif Bloks. I have the orange flavor and got them at Wal-Mart.

Jess - Good workout today!

Gayle - Terrible tragedy in MN. Good luck with the interview! Hope the TM is not out of commission too long. Always something, isn't it?

Carole - Will definitely be checking Target out. Want some more shorts too. What do you run in during colder months? Enjoy your workout today!

I did an easy 3 mile run using iFIT and LIC upper body premix + Abs. Great workout!

Enjoy your day!

Jackie

Hi Cheetahs! No insomnia for me. I slept good and hard last night and so I won't be so grumpy today. I'm sure my kids will like that!

I need to work out today since I've not managed to fit it in since Sunday! I think I'll hop on my recumbent bike and then work my lower body with all of Cathe's floor work.

Went to my podiatrist y'day to get my custom orthotics. I've got another appt in 4 weeks. If I'm not up and running at that time then, rather than training for Boston, I'll start working to requalify. Either way will be fine as long as I'm running again.

Cathy, Hey, as long as the cake didn't have frosting on it then no big deal eating the whole thing in two days!! LOL!! See? That's exactly why I can't have cake around, frosting or not! Sorry about the spill.

Shelly, Yes, Rex has a strong will!!! I've gotten some great advice from Christine though and have ordered for overnight delivery a dog training book that she suggested. I'm not really overwhelmed but I do want to have what Christine describes as a dog my friends will envy for the rest of his life.

Carole, Fishing! Do you touch the fish? What kind of fish are you catching? You've got some good spots for it up there don't you? Last year when we were in Burney DH took along his trout fishing stuff. I can't remember if he caught anything though. Speaking of Burney, we're going to do the cabin thing again this year but up by Chico this time. I'm looking forward to a week of relaxing and hoping that it will help the PF along in the right direction.

Hi Jess, Gayle, Jackie, Amy, Sunny and anyone else I missed.

Hey gang - Yeah, that bridge falling is just horrible. I can't tell you the amount of times I have traveled on that bridge, just scares me to death now of briges.:-( Thankfully, I didn't know anyone that was caught in that tragedy (well, at least that I'm aware of so far).

I did a one hour power walk this morning to wake up ;-) Later, will be PLB and 200 walking lunges. I am bartending tonight, too, so I'll be busy.

DS is staying home by himself for the first time today. He is pretty excited. I gave him a list of chores to do, too, so hopefully he will get those done ;-)

I'll be back later, going out for lunch with the office and then back again here to work. Talk again soon. I'll return for personals.

Marcia.

Good morning ladies,
Well the Bickersons are at it again, but I am in a better mood, so It will definitley be a better day. I make them kiss each other and hug each other when they are mad. It is so funny to watch}(

I did Cardio Fusion yesterday and it about killed me. I forgot how intense and long that workout is. The last DM drill my legs were fried. I had very little ITB problems though:)

Today, I am going to do HSC. I love that workout. It is so thorough and it is really a good upper body workout.

Cathy, sorry you did not get much sleep. I tell ya ever since I have had children, I am out like a light. You just need to have some kids;-) Even though in the school year you have your fair shair of kids}(

Sunny, I had a 6:00 am step class I taught for years and it was a tough teaching that early. I had such a dry mouth the whole time. It was a great feeling afterwards though.

Amy, what workout do you have planned? Are you studying to be a fitness instructor any time soon?

Jess, I love going to the pool with my girls. We always have so much fun and the girls can just be crazy and loud and never get into trouble there. My girls have also become great swimmers, much better than I ever was. Great Workout!

Shelly, A rest day????? Okay, if you say so;-) I hope you have a great nap!

Gayle, I did Step blast the other day and you are right it is a sweat fun, but so much fun. I hope your treadmill gets fixed soon.

Carole, I doubt if I will even be able to sleep anyway with all the excitement going on. BTW, are we supposed to wear workout stuff at the meet and greet?

Jackie, Yes, girls definitley are the ones that have the attitude. My 8 year old is a master at the eye rolling thing now. I don't put up with though. My friend Mary is actually starting a new round of chemo today. The last round hit her pretty hard and this one is supposed to hit her even harder. I had a girlfriend help her out the last round, so that I could have a little break from it all and it really helped. It is very easy to get very consumed by the whole thing. I will take her today though and help her this weekend. Her body is responding well to the chemo and all of her CAT scans are coming back good. So, she still has a long road ahead of her, but we are all optimistic:)

Well ladies, I am off to take the Bickersons to bible camp, HALLELUIAH!!!! (LOL)!

Cheers!

Susan

Carole :: the only thing still hurting me is the pinky…it’s still swollen and purple…I’ve taped it and it feels a little more comfortable that way…as soon as I hit the ground, I thought of you – had a feeling you’d appreciate a good wipeout. I think hitting your back/tailbone (that’s where you fell, right?) is a lot worse, though!

Jackie :: I agree w/ you bout the morning workouts…I wonder if I will ever manage to do my workouts BEFORE school…it is tough…I can be AWAKE that early, but I don’t like running in the dark and I like my morning “loaf” time to ease into my day. AM workouts agree with me more, though…the sports beans sound good!…great workout! I want to use LIC more…I thought the total body sculpt premix the other day was a lot of fun…I don’t have the Target shirt in that color, but I do have white, gray, black, baby blue, and hot pink. *lol* When I find something I like that much, I buy it in every color!

Elaine :: fingers crossed the orthotics do the trick…Love the cake justification! Have I mentioned how glad I am that you’re back?? *lol*

Marcia :: I’m glad no one you know was hurt or killed by the bridge collapse…how’re you liking the rotation, partner? Hope you enjoyed your lunch out. It’s always nice to get out of the office. That’s one thing I miss about working in an office – the luxury of a lunch hour!

Susan :: I used to sleep like a rock…never have trouble falling asleep but DO have trouble *staying* asleep…that’s only been in the last 2-3 years like that…hope the ITB was good through HSC.

I just did a PLB mishmosh (up only, no leg presses) + PUB abs (no pikes).

Have a great night!

Good evening CHeetahs!

It is a HOT one here in Boston - very humid and it got worse as the day went on!!!! Yuck! I try not to complain, but this is really gross! Hard to work out in! We have one wall air conditioner in the condo, and it doesn't get the bedroom unfortunately!!!

Cathy - I hope you feel better! I am sorry you fell. That is a bummer!

I am sad to hear about the bridge collapse also. You just never know. Scary stuff!!!!!

Ok all, sorry this is so short. I am going to take a cold shower and try to get some sleep. I really want to do Cathe tomorrow!!!!! I miss her!

Up again early to work with the kids at 7AM! Let's see if I can get up extra early (4:30AM) to do Cathe. No promises!

Take care, and good night!
Amy
