Cathlete
Hi everyone! http://www.freesmileys.org/emo/happy114.gif

I have class this morning (the one-Saturday-a-month support class for the national board certification), so I'll be doing a run + some type of u/b weight work later on.

I was hoping that my school district would be willing to cover all or at least part of the class fees ($499) for my professional development this year. (Usually, we are allowed to take a few professional days each year. These occur on school days. Often, the workshop fee and travel expenses are paid for, if not in full then partially, plus a substitute is needed.) I thought they might be willing to cover my course fees since all my classes will be on Saturdays, no subs needed, etc. But to my surprise, they refused to pay for any portion of it at all. Oh well. It's still worth it.

Hope you all have a GREAT day! BBL

Good Morning Cathy and all who follow.

No super early risers besides Cathy this saturday, huh? I know by me it's dark and dreary outside so that encouraged me to sleep in a bit...Not going to bed until midnight also helped. :7

Today I will either do Legs and Back or hit the TM at the gym. I haven't decided yet.

The jewelery party was nice. I picked up Christmas gifts for the 3 ladies I was hoping to get done. It took some time and I was starting to get frustrated but I will really appreciate the effort it took once official Christmas shopping time rolls around I tell ya!:D She had a lot of nice stuff. A bracelet caught my eye immediately but it was out of budget as a gift and out of my own personal budget as to what I can justify spending on myself just "for the heck of it" so I wrote down the info and will give it to DH for a Christmas idea instead. Pretty slick, ey? ;) }( :p LOL

DH is working 10 hours of O/T today so it's just me, DS and the dog...

Cathy: How was dinner last night? I can't believe your district wouldn't pay! Did they explain why?

Susan: Wow, Mindy lives that close to you? Have you ever seen her house?? Carol Bradyish is a great way to describe a tupperware party! LOL It was actually a jewelery party I went to though...thank goodness!:7

I'll be back!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy..you have acquired some very cute smileys. Collage does not have Amy's newest workouts, you can get them here http://www.nrgfitness.net/ . Enjoy your run and upper body workout today. That is the pitts the School District does not help you out this time with the cost of the class! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/sad.gif[/img] Interesting story you posted about on the OJ thread.

Wendy...sorry I got confused about the Tupperware/jewelry party...I use a 33 lb BB and 9 lb dumbbells for the bicep work in MM, so not too heavy and no, I don't mind you asking...:)...Good job picking up some X-mas gifts at the jewelry party. And finding something for yourself was good for your X-mas list to DH!

Kristi...I actually started carrying dog biscuits for the not nice dogs, to distract them but now I have a couple of favorite "nice" dogs I give them too...:)

Jackie...Yes, the dog biscuits can be a distraction too! Sounds like a good iTread workout, thanks for reminding me of the foam roller.

Shelly...glad you are getting in some well needed rest. Sorry about the kayaking getting canceled. Thanks re my marathon PR...:)..no, only one of my friends runs and as she has the disc problem she is only running abut 2 miles...How was the GS workout?

Christine...those onions from Outback are full of bad calories but they can be tasty!! Great about the measurements!! I bet you are doing the happy dance..:)

Susan...that is so cool your DH runs with you!

I am doing a KPC/L&G premix today.

Have a good day...:)

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Today is my 8 mile run. As usual, I’m procrastinating. But I’ll get out there soon. I have a lot to do today, so I’d best hop to it. After my run, I have to get my nails done, then go grocery shopping. Then it’s the local Street Dance tonight, so I’ll be dancing away (got a really cute shirt at Anthropologie to wear for tonight with jeans!). Of course that means street food, but I’ll probably get a Teriyaki Chicken Bowl – which is at least somewhat decent.

Cathy – enjoy your class. I do agree that you’re worth it! I’m surprised they are not chipping in this year. Enjoy your run! And rethink yoga – it makes a difference. I cannot believe how happy I am with this rotation.

Wendy – I love your idea for a Christmas wish list for DH! I hope he gets it for you – give him a really BIG hint. (although I swear I could hit my DH over the head with a hammer, and he still would not remember what I said!). Enjoy your time with your son.

Carole – Enjoy the KPC L&G premix – I love that video!! Out of curiosity, can you make a half in San Jose on November 4th? A friend who is also running the RNR half, is running this one and wants me to join her. I’m on the fence about this one.

Enjoy the day everyone! I’ll try to check back in!

Good morning cheethas!
I am up and ready for Imax3}( I love love that workout. We are then going to the dollar store. My girls really enjoy going there and you can't beat the price.

Tonight I am going to see the Bourne Ultimatum with my friend Mary. She is done with this round of chemo and will start radiation next week. They said that they really have to be careful with her radiation because her cancerous lump was right next to the heart and lungs and she could develop inflammation of the heart if the radaition comes in contact with that area. She is pretty scared about the whole thing. She did really well with the chemo though and hopefull she will get through this part smoothly.

Cathy, Now you used to be into the yoga. What happened? It is hard to find a place for it, I admit. I am such a cardio and weight junkie that I run out of time for it. I am going to start doing it at night before bed with my hubby. It is a great way to end the night. Enjoy your run and class:)

WEndy, I don't know why I thought it was a tupperware party. I have to admit, I could not picture you buying leftover containers;-) I love jewelry parties. I always end up with some nice stuff. No, I have not seen Mindy's house, butI have been to her studio in Santa Cruz.

Carole, Yes, I really like that my hubby runs with me. He is a lot faster than me though. He likes to run at about 7.3 miles an hour and I am more like 6.5. I do find lately that my body is much more comfortable and in alignment when I run outside versus the treadmill. I also just broke in my new Muzino shoes, very comfy. Enjoy your workout and BTW, would you recomment Amy's KBX dvd?

Christine, My little yogini:) Get your hiny out there and run that 8 miles! Have fun at your street party tonight in your LOOSE jeans;-)

Well ladies, I am off to Imax 3 and then some yoga. HAve a great Saturday!

Susan

Quick check in right now to say that I ended up doing Tread n Tush today! Murphy's law!!! One of the only available TM's in my PACKED gym on a saturday morning just happened to be in the area where it's easiest to get on and off the TM to do the weight work. GO FIGURE! LOL I tacked on 100 walking lunges afterewards as well. I want some DOMS in the morning...can ya tell? :p

Time to get DS down for his nap and then I have some things to take care of.

I'll be back later for personals though!:)

Well, I went out and ran my 8 miles. It was a really good run, too. No walking at all, and the first 7 miles were actually pretty easy. The last mile - well, I did it, so that's all that matters. LOL. I followed up with Yoga for Athletes - 30 minutes worth. I feel recharged and ready to go.

Susan - enjoy your movie tonight with Mary. I'll keep her in my prayers. That has to be scary. My DH is a faster runner than I am, too, so we usually start out together, but we don't finish together. *shrugs*

Wendy - Doesn't it always work that way? How's the training for the half coming along?

Hello to all who follow - I need a shower - I STINK!!! :+

Christine:

The half training was coming along very well until DH got put on a big O/T job at work. Now I don't know what will happen. My longest run to date is 8 miles and I did that in just under 95 minutes and was happy with that. My next long run is supposed to be this coming weekend and it will be 9.5 miles.

Good job on your run! Now go get your nails done! You deserve to be pampered after that 8 mile haul!:)

Hi again, cheetahs http://www.infohub.com/forums/images/smilies/vishenka_34.gif

Wendy :: I say rack up a few more clients and buy the bracelet yourself! http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/evilgrin/evilgrin0030.gif …Dinner was good and I showed self-restraint. We went to Applebee’s, so I ordered from the WW menu and indulged in one CL…My principal seemed genuinely disappointed in the decision, which came from the top. I think they don’t want to set a precedent of paying for National Board classes for people. Now mind you, if I pass, I will be the second person in the district’s history to have this certification. But I’m not getting hung up on it. I’ll just suck it up and pay for it myself, which is something we do a lot in education. (Right, Amy?)…Oh yeah, you are definitely aimin’ for the DOMS with that workout. Nice job!!!

Carole :: thanks for the link! I will go check it out. Although I should probably give my cc a rest. Last night, I ordered HSTA, HS Challenge, Body Fusion, the step topper, and a Cathe hat…You know, I actually wondered if the LV incident was a publicity stunt to sell more books. That is one despicable man…have fun with the KPC/L&G premix. So grateful you turned me onto those ~ they are fab!

Christine :: sounds like a fun night…you always have an interesting social calendar!…I do love yoga, but so far have managed to get to it (or a yoga-like stretch) 1x per week. I might take a page out of your book and try to fit in a second session somewhere…The interesting thing is the district will pay for other PD ~ just not this one.

Susan :: thanks for the update on Mary…I have been wondering about her. I’m glad she responded so well to the chemo and hope the same will be true for the radiation. That is scary to have the lump so close to the vital organs. Enjoy the movie!http://ephatch.com/forum/images/smilies/popcorn.gif ...Oh yeah, I *am* still into yoga!! http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Leisures_and_Sports/leisures-and-sports-072.gif Did I somehow give the impression that I wasn’t?

Off to relax a bit. Still haven't thought about what u/b w/out I feel like tackling. It's nice and breezy out there, though, so I'm looking forward to my run.

Take care!!

Cathy:

I like the way you think re: the bracelet!!! I just might have to do that!http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/MSN_Emoticons/MSN-Emoticon-106.gif[/IMG]

It's ashame that they won't pay. If they would, perhaps it would encourage more teachers to go for the certification! There has to be a reason why you will only be the 2nd in the district to get it. If this cert is extremely intense and difficult to pass AND costs $500 to boot then I can understand why many would shy away from it. Heck, why do you think I chose NOT to get certified by ACE!? EXACT REASONS! Down the line I will if need be but it's too much cash to put out on something I am simply not confident I would have the ability to study well for and pass at this point. You know what I mean? That being said, you deserves MAJOR KUDOS for taking on this certification on your own. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/MSN_Emoticons/MSN-Emoticon-132.gif[/IMG]

Good job controlling the food and drinks at dinner last night! My BF and I and another friend of ours used to spend endless time at Applebees! We'd get together every weekend there and have dinner and some drinks. We were there so much that we got to know some of the wait staff and would ask to be seated in their section! LOL

Hello Cheetahs!

Wendy - I was up early this Sat AM! I did Cathe's body sculpt section of Low Impact Step.

Boy am I out of shape! I used to be able to do this workout no problem! Today was tough!

Cathy - You were up early doing teacher stuff! How is this class?

Everyone have a great rest of the weekend! My girlfriends are coming over for dinner tonight - I am cookin some wheat pasta!

Easy - I know. But healthy! I also have a nice salad.

DH went to Foxwoods Casino. Hope he wins! :)

Take care all!
Amy :)

Carole: Where in the world did you ever find 9 pound DB's???

Susan: Enjoy the movie tonight with Mary. She sounds like such a brave person and you are such a good friend!

Amy: Enjoy your girls night tonight!:)

Did Supersets u/b premix #14 - that's a good one. I like, I like!!! Worked the biceps hard and followed that with a 2 mile interval run.

Wendy :: Like your new smileys…Here’s another site I found with some cute ones: http://www.infohub.com/forums/misc.php?do=showsmilies That’s exactly why many teachers don’t pursue it. Many districts, esp. in NJ, won’t help pay for it, and there is actually more cost involved than what I mentioned: for the process itself, there’s a non-refundable $65 application fee plus a $2500 overall fee. The courses I’m in now, like the ones I attended in the summer, are support classes, which total $700. (Your chances of achieving certification are much higher if you’re affiliated with a support system.) I have been lucky in that I was able to obtain a grant which is going to cover *most* of the $2500 fee. Another reason teachers don’t pursue it is b/c most districts do not offer any salary advancement for it. So this is why I laughed to myself at the idea of setting a precedent. Nobody else besides me is dumb enough to torture themselves and PAY for it! *lol* I do understand about ACE…it doesn’t seem necessary to put out added expense when your certification is fully legitimate. That is why I did my M.S. program online. Cost and convenience were MAJOR factors. But I have to say, as far as your ability to pass it, there is no doubt in my mind (or anyone’s here, I’m sure) that you would do GREAT. I know you are humble by nature, but I think you need to give yourself way more credit!!…Speaking of down the line, I am already thinking about my next big goal after this one…I think I want to pursue another Master’s…this time in Reading…Just a random thought, but I'm excited about it...Applebee’s is a good spot, and I liked their WW menu even before I was on it. Of course, I also *love* the quesadilla burger, onion peels, and wings, but I’ve managed to stay away from them! Today, however, I wasn’t quite as good on the food front. At class, I ate a strawberry bagel AND a mini-Danish. There was no reason for me to go whole hog like that, but it was a small group and such a lovely spread, I felt bad NOT taking something. Does that sound insane? *lol* Anywho, I am going to eat only oatmeal and a piece of fruit for dinner to make up for it. I am too close to maxing out on my point allowance. Holy moly, is this a novel or what?? http://www.vbaexpress.com/forum/images/smilies/ecomcity.gif

*pauses to stretch fingers*

Amy :: I was up early but the class started at 9. It’s held at an educational resource center that’s just a few minutes from Cathe’s gym…which made me think of my DVD order http://ephatch.com/forum/images/smilies/bananax.gif and how I can’t wait to get them!!!…Anyway, it’s very good, very helpful. It’s a small group of people taught by mentors who have been through the process…Have fun with the girls tonight! I have been to Foxwoods in CT…enjoyed the high-stakes bingo there.

Christine...A Street dance sounds fun! I will give that half in Nov some thought...:)...Good job on the 8 miles.

Susan..I also have fun at the dollar store, some interesting stuff! Enjoy Imax3 and yoga. I would think outside would be better for us trying chi running. I have Amy's Kickbox Xtreme and YES I do recommend it. Fun and tough!! Wow, radiation next for Mary. She is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you both enjoy the movie, very swet of you to take her...:)

Cathy...congrats on the Cathe purchases. I really like HS Challenge and HSTA. When I watched Greta Van Susteren last night, it seemed the general consensus of her guests was that OJ would be arrested and do time...I have my doubts as he always seems to get out of everything...but we can hope...Good job on the SS premix and interval run.

Wendy...love the glassy smileys http://www.emotihost.com/glass13/22.gif[/img], I think I have a link to those somewhere. I have a couple of DB sets and I can make a 9 lb DB, but you can buy them also.

Well, I ended up doing a circuit of Kickmax punching drills and B&G!...great workout...:)

and I almost forgot:
