Chasing the dream career and lifestyle

Remember our thread about what our dream careers were? Or, really, about how to get out of or change a less-than-perfect job? I'm the one that is supposed to be a COWGIRL, trapped in a lawyer's suit. So, I spent the last four days way out in West Texas with just my boxer, Lola, celebrating my 45th birthday by shopping for a lower humidity environ, investigating the cowgirl opportunities (riding a mountain bike or a horse) and working out everyday. It was so good to try out a different lifestyle to see how it felt. It felt good! I also was reading "Time Off for Good Behavior," which is one of the self-help books along the line of those that were mentioned in our past career thread. Some good stuff, for sure.

I could hardly wait to get back to tell you all to start chasing that dream career right away! But, I obviously missed some pretty intense posting while away. What happened?:-(

Sounds fabulous Charlotte. Good for you, and Happy Birthday!

I think I was sort of meant to be a lawyer, but not one who has to bill her hours. :p :+ Every day I swear to myself I'm going to use every minute productively, and then I wind up revising the same letter too many times and I can't POSSIBLY bill the client for it, so I leave the time off my timesheet and then I come out behind everyone else. The clients are very happy, but the partners aren't. And I just wind up feeling bad about myself. I think I need to find an in-house job. That's the career I should be chasing.

Welcome back!
