It's my rest day today and my legs are very happy about that. LOL They are givin' me a good stern talkin' to after doing the Leg Blast yesterday afternoon. I never got to do ab work and thought I might do it today but on second thought I will probably just let it slide. I've worked abs twice already this week so that's good enough for me.
DH and I have the house and time to ourselves until this afternoon. DS is at my mom's. He spent the night there. Later we will go pick him up on the way up to my FIL's for a bbq. It's supposed to be a gorgeous day so a bbq will be a great way to spend it!
Last night DH and I were able to go out alone. We wanted to get dinner locally and then hop a train to NYC for the evening but ofcourse, the friggin' rain never stopped until late so we opted to stay local. We went to a local "watering hole" and a had a few beers and BS'd for a couple of hours. It was nice but I was really looking forward to a jaunt in the city so I was disappointed at the same time. Oh well, perhaps next time the weather will cooperate!x(
Okay, I think I've "talked" your ears off long enough...I'll be back later!
I was up early but am dragging a bit. Got in at about 12:30. Didn't consume all that many CABs, but one friend forced me to do Patron. It was smooth. But today I feel it. Luckily, the weather has turned (agreed, Wendy, it is a perfect day for a BBQ), so I can hold off on my run until later. There's zero humidity, yippee! I'll also do the KM leg drills.
Wendy :: sorry things didn't work out to go over to the city...I think it's not a fun place to be when it's pouring rain...I have spent a weekend there with friends with my jeans soaked up to my knees just b/c of the slant of the rain...not comfortable!...Tell me, though - while you were out last night, did you see any fine gentleman wearing chaps?...My friends and I did not go to ZZ Top's hang. We went to a really nice, new outdoor spot...Funny, I was going to ask how often folks work their abs. I tend to fit it in 2x per week, but I was wondering lately if I should up it.
LOL Cathy...nope! No chaps! Sorry! An outdoor spot sounds like fun. I would have rather been outside doing ANYTHING but again, the stupid rain spoiled that for us. GRRRR! What's Patron??? I have almost always tried to work my abs 3 times per week but I think 2 is fine as well. There was a time that I did them every day and a time that I tried 4 days but really do prefer 3x if I can swing it. Sometimes I just don't want to be bothered though and will let it slide. I only worked them ONCE on vacation even though I exercised 4 days out of the time I was down there. It also depends on the look you want to acheive. For the 6 pack look, you shouldn't work them on consecutive days. If you just want a firm, flat belly (like your average model) then working them every day is okay if it's what you want to do. I am personally going for the 6 pack and it's finally paying off!
*LOL* I am busting a gut. (Bad pun. Didn't even catch it until I went to hit post.) Yes, I would love to have the abs of your average model. I don't think a six-pack is realistic for me - even at my lowest weight, I had a little belly. But then again, I almost NEVER worked abs. That sounds really dumb in retrospect, but it's just something I didn't like doing & my core was always my weakest link. I would do the ab machine at the gym and that was it. Not a good strategy. I mean, truthfully, it's still not my favorite body part to work, but I am much stronger than I used to be. ARX really forced me to address it (thanks, Tony!) and now I can hang with most of the ab workouts that I have. I still need breaks - just not as many - and I do modify certain exercises, as some just don't agree with my back, but I'm getting better...Patron is tequila.
I hate to break it to ya Cathy, but if you want tight ab muscles you actually have to do exercises that target that area. Sorry to dissapoint you. They say that abs are made in the kitchen and I believe it! Once you have been doing abdominal work with regularity you will most likely have the abs you dream about BUT if you don't kick your diet in the arse then you will never really get to see those beautiful muscles that you worked so hard to create! I also credit heavy lifting as it really helped me drop body fat which is key to seeing ab definition. So are you ready to work!? }(
*lol* What, you want to me work for this?? Isn't there just some pill I can take? I do work abs now but was more or less talking about what I *used* to do years ago, and at that age/weight, I could get away w/ it. Like I said, I didn't have a perfectly flat stomach, but I wore a bikini with ease. Honestly, I've never really TRIED to get rock-solid abs nor would I say it's a goal at the moment, but I would like to lose my gut and get *some* definition. Mainly, I would like to be strong in the core to help me with running, skiing, and everything really.
I know I need to be consistent in tightening up on the eating. That's my biggest obstacle/downfall, or I should say maybe, the reason my progress is sloooooooooooooooow. I'm not a hardcore dieter, but maybe I need to be. You mentioned this during one of our RT chats, and I know it's true.
I was up early today and since we were out of coffee, DH asked if I would get bagels, coffee and cream cheese. Of course I did, but I did not eat any bagels I opted for eggbeaters with broccoli & green chile on whole wheat (lo carb) tortilla. I need to do legs and a cardio today. I'm thinking of GS legs and KPC is sounding good.
We are going to SIL's for dinner tonight for my neices birthday party. She is 14.
Wendy-at least you got time alone with DH! Sorry it wasn't exactly what you had in mind. You all know that's my biggest gripe is that DH and I hardly ever are alone. Enjoy your family day,the bbq sounds fun.
Cathy-so you like the KM leg drills. At first I thought how hard could this be, then I notice my leg is barely off the ground and they have theirs at hip level-are you kidding me! I work abs 3 to 4 times per week and am happy with that. Abs are not my problem area though and a little work goes a long way for my abs. Clean eating helps too. I always say I carry my weight behind me-which I why I try to work my legs & glutes more often.
