Buff Badgers Wed 1-4-06

Cathlete
Good morning! Up early again today to do KPC and PLB floorwork. Already looking forward to the weekend. I liked my schedule much better last week when I was sleeping in, getting my workout in later and showering around noon. :)

I think it's neat how our little checkin keeps attracting more people. Maybe there are more BBs out there than we think. The other day at the Y I saw a girl wearing the same pants as the ones in Imax3. It made me wonder... BTW the only reason I know they're the same pants is because Michelle from the road trip also had them and everyone kept asking about them. DH was a little worried when I told him about the girl at the Y having the same pants. He thinks I'm borderline obsessive about working out as it is and now I even know what outfits go with each workout! (I don't but I'm sure some do.)

Okay, I'm off to get ready for work. Hope everyone has a great day!

Sue

Morning Sue & BB's that follow,

Today will be SJP (this one is turning into one of my fav) and the Stability ball section of PLB.

Sue, those Terminators in Bootcamp just about killed me last night. x( and doing them twice, I needed a longer break after those. I'm borderline obsessive about fitness. My DH thinks I read way to much about it. Oh well! At least I know I'm healthy.

Welcome all new Buff Badgers. Everyone seems to be doing some great workouts, starting out the new year with a bang!!!

Have a great day!

Laurie

Mornin' ladies!

Sue-LOL at the pants thing! That is funny. But hey, it's a good obsession to have, right?! You should ask her next time if she's a Cathe fan. :)

Laurie-WTG on sticking with the tough rotation. Wow!

Christy is coming over for an early workout for a change-9am. She claims she doesn't like kickboxing, but I'm going to introduce her to KPC this morning. I bet she'll like it! If not, we'll switch to step. I did Push Pull yesterday and upped my weights (finally!) so no weight workout for me today.

My Tracie Longs will be here on Friday. Yay!

Have a happy Wed.!
Jill

Hello fellow BB's! It is day three of the January Roatation for me. Getting up at 4:15 to do Imax and MIC step was not easy- but I did it!!:) It was actually fun because I had not pulled these 2 out in a while!
Another gloomy day, I only have to work 10-2:30 which is nice. I just went back to work in Sept. after staying home with the kids for 8 1/2 years! I am enjoying myself! :)
Hope you all have a great one! Stay strong! Susan

'Morning!

As one who has recently discovered the BB check-in, thanks for the warm welcome! I don't know anyone IRL who doesn't think that workout vids are still all about Jane Fonda and leg warmers (not that there's anything wrong with that :) ). Nice to know there are other Wisconisin-ites who are on the Cathe train. Choo-choooo!!

I did Step Works last night, working on finishing up the July '03 Fat Loss and Definition rotation. That's a fun workout I haven't done in awhile. Tonight will be Imax 1. Ack! Tuck jumps, flying jacks, and plyos, OH MY!

Sue - that's funny about the workout pants. I'm sure my DH would love it if I upgraded my workout wear, LOL. I usually wear these shorts where the waistband ends practically an inch from my sports bra. Seeexxxy! LOL

Have a great day everyone! - Sarah

Good morning,

I am in a fog today. I had to get up at 4:45 to take my brother and future sister-in-law to the airport this morning. Of course, since we won't see each other again for months, we stayed up very late, then after I slept for about two hours, my boyfriend was feeling sick so that was about it for me and sleep. I did Kick Max when I got home from the airport because I knew I wouldn't do it later and I needed a workout today. Anyway, I'm probably going to get some Mountain Dew soon (I'm not a coffee-drinker).

Welcome to all new Badgers! I know I've enjoyed being a part of this thread since it started.

Jill, I'm interested to know what you think of the Tracie Long videos once you get them. I watched the clips online yesterday and they looked so different; I was intrigued.

Okay, I'm off to limp through the day :)

Take care,

Ellen

I'm suppose to do KPC today, just like Sue. Love that workout also. Must not have had enough caffine at that point. :D

Susan, I wish there was a bowing down smiley here! I would definitely give it to you! I can't imagine having the discipline to get up at 4:15am!! I have tried to set my alarm early so many times and just can't do it. 6:15am is early enough for me. Maybe if I could make myself go to bed earlier I could do it, but I need 8 hours every night. WTG!!

Sarah-hi again. :) Hey, I think Susan said she lives near Oshkosh. :) LOL @ your workout clothes. I have some nicer stuff, mostly Adidas, but I buy it on sale only, usually from Sportmart. I don't think a pair of workout pants are worth $70! Although since I work at home I do wear my workout wear all day....I'm just too frugal lol. I used to buy only Walmart stuff, so I guess I've upgraded somewhat ha ha.

Ellen-I can't believe you managed KM on two hours of sleep. What are you all? Wonder Women!? I would have gone back to bed! LOL. I'll let you know on the TLT workouts. Tracie is right up there with Cathe as my favorite instructors. I've always liked her, and hers are the only old Firm and Fitprime workouts I haven't gotten rid of.

Well Christy and I made it through 63 minutes of KPC. We agreed to skip the last combo-we were both starting to really drag. Guess what though?! She did a pike on the first try!!! I still can't do one!! I was so jealous lol. It's funny though---she can't keep up with me on the ab work usually, but she can do pikes. I can do abs all day but I can't do a pike to save my life.

She was getting really frustrated with the workout. She had a real hard time putting the arms and legs together. IE in the first combo where you do shin block, kick, jumping kick, she just couldn't get the choregraphy down and get the timing right. BUT she said at the end that she liked it WAY better than any other kb'ing (Tae bo=yuck) and wants to keep trying it.

She also said she likes Cathe way better than any other workouts that we've tried together (mostly Firm and Christy Taylor). Yahoo! Another Cathe convert. :)

Okay I'm off to shower and get some work done. I took an early "lunch" today to get my workout done with her.

Jill

ETA: I'm so glad to be on daily workouts again and with Cathe. My hr monitor claims I burned 503 cals today! You can't beat a Cathe workout for burning the calories!

Hi BBs,

Jill - looks like you'll have to introduce Christy to this check-in group! I am anxious to hear your thoughts on the TLTs. I just pre-ordered the new CIAs and plan to pre-order a few of Mindy's new ones (Bootcamp and the Ab one I think).

This morning I did the new Rebecca Small Lift & Push (I think) that I just got from Fitness Organica. Music isn't great but otherwise a nice Body Pump type wokout in 45 minutes!

Last night was my first Spin class and every time I sit down I am reminded. My plan is for Tuesdays and Saturdays in addition to my morning workouts M-F.

Where is Cynthia???? Haven't seen her check in for quite a while.

I'm also weakening after hearing about all these great new workouts (Tracie Long, Mindy Mylrea, CIA). Even though I'm paying for a gym, my heart belongs to home workouts! :)

How do you like Spinning? Have you done it before? What do you recommend to a potential first-timer?

Jill, I wish I was Wonder Woman! Seriously, I had the underoos when I was a kid :) I was tempted to go back to bed, but I knew I'd lay down, and my mind would race about how I should just get a workout over with so I wouldn't have to think about it later, and then I'd maybe fall asleep for 10 minutes and wake up with a start, thinking I'd overslept.... and on and on. I'm no good at napping. I'm currently feeling very alert. We'll see what I'm saying in an hour or so!

Ellen

Marie - That's precisely why I hardly ever go spinning even though DH goes all the time. I hate the "saddle soreness" you get. Wearing padded bicycle shorts helps. DH says also that some people bring a pad they put on the seat before they sit down. Don't know anymore about it but maybe you can ask your instructor if she's heard of such a thing.

Sue

Jill - Tell Christy the choreography in KPC is hard! It took me a few times to get the combos down. I especially had trouble with that double kick to the side in the last combo until I figured out if I kept the first kick lower I wouldn't fall over! Sounds like she's doing really, really well. Tell her I said so.:)

Sue

I was wondering if you were making the rotation even tougher on purpose! LOL I had to double-check my printout to see if I did the wrong w/o this morning! Anything's possible at 5:00 a.m.

Ellen - I have taken some spin classes before but it was some time ago. Some gyms offer a beginner spin. Otherwise get there a little early and ask the instructor to help you set up the settings on the bike and for some tips. Don't try to keep up with everyone if you aren't ready. You can just sit and pedal if you need to take a break and get more comfortable. Good luck.

Sue - I have a gel bike seat that I could bring to try but then always worried that I will forget it. So for now I will just try to tough it out. I know they have the padded bike shorts but not sure I want to add anymore padding back there!

Just read the review of the new turbojams. I feel my will power caving quickly. I just need a discount offer from BB and I will be over the edge!

RE: 'Morning!

Hey Sara! You're my neighbor! I live in Winneconne and my sister lives in Oshkosh, over by Mercy Hospital! Welcome!!!:) Susan

Hi guys! Just posting while watch The Biggest Loser on tv. I'm flipping to the Rose Bowl during commercials.

Marie--Christy has checked out the clips here but I'm not sure if she's been to the board. I will remind her again! RE: CIAs....I'm really tempted but honestly I have so MANY workouts it's ridiculous!! The only one I will probably buy is the bosu one from Seasun. I am going to buy it from her site though so I can just get the one. I know Cynthia was here for the holidays.....maybe she's not home yet? Great job on the spin doms!

Ellen-I know what you mean; I'm not a napper either. I've tried and just lay there thinking of all the things I should be doing. *sigh* Woman's work is never done!

Sue-LOL--we skipped the last combo but she was quite "impressed" with that double kick. I think "No f'ing way" was her comment. LOL

I am expecting some soreness tomorrow, between heavier weights yesterday and KPC today. I already am feeling a twinge in between the back of my shoulder blades. No giving up though!!

Oh Thea I am doing a WW Core-based eating plan, too. It's much easier than low carb. I have high hopes!

Good night ladies!!
Jill
