BodyBugg/GWF/HRM

So, I am thinking of investing in one of the above, not sure which. They all measure HR, right? So, in theory, they all give an accurate number of cals burned. I know I HRM is usually just used during workouts, but is there a reason it couldn't be worn all day? From what I understand, the BodyBugg and GWF also require a subscription which costs more $$$. They also track calories in on the website, right? I already track calories on the Daily Plate, so why would I want to pay for this? So, what are the pros and cons, and which is the most bang for the buck? Or, do I really need any of the above, and am I just looking to keep up with the Joneses? Things seem to be going ok without them, but I alway like new thingamajigs. Maybe I should just buy some new DVDs?

Nan, I just want to clarify something -- the GWF does not display HR. It tells you the number of calories you burn and how many steps you take in a 24 hour period, as well as the duration of moderate and vigorous activity. It also monitors sleep and can tell you how long you sleep and how efficient it is. It's a fun doodad.

I got rid of my HRM because it prevented me from enjoying my workouts. Unless you are dead on with calculating your max HR (which constantly needs to be recalculated), it will under/overestimate your ranges. I was always scaling back my cardio when I wore the HRM. I do MUCH better using perceived exertion to gauge how hard I'm working. I never experienced an endorphin high until I ditched my HRM. :p ;)

I do wear my GWF all day/night (on most days). I like knowing how active I am and how many calories I burn each day. Makes it easier to adjust my food intake and also shows just how sedentary I am at work! (desk job!)

BodyBugg and GWF are the same device, made by the same company. BodyBugg had better software at one time, but recently upgraded GWF software. It looks better than the bugg software- and the GWF is cheaper by $100.

Amazon has a special on the GWF armband and display for $209.00 shipped. That's a good deal if you decide that is the way to go.:)
