BFL ..........Mon. April 7

Hey guys! ANOTHER quickie! I took swim lessons about 2 year ago. Although I knew how to swim, I could even save YOU if any of you were drowning, I never was taught the actual mechanics of the strokes. So I took lessons (private, meaning it was just me and the instructor) for about 2 months. I really LOVE the backstroke the most as well as the one with the funny kick (can't remember what it's called???).

Gayle, are you talking about the butterfly?

Kathy, I was on the swim team for years. Never finished 1st though! My teammate always came in 1st and I (most of the time) came in 2nd. You have to work up to your goal, just like anything you do. I think you will definately benefit from the lessons. Keep at it like you do running and biking and you will see and feel great results! It will help in muscle recovery too. I haven't been swimming regularly for about a year and miss it so much! Keep us posted on how you like your instructor!
 
Stephanie. Maybe it's the butterfuly. You bring your knees (together) toward your chest, then straighten and spread them, then kick them hard together again which propels you forward. Is that the butterfly? lol

Gayle, I think what you are describing is the butterfly. Either that, or the breast stroke. The butterfly is done mainly above the water where the breast stroke is performed mostly under water with no splashing whatsoever. I was "acting out" your explanation on the floor when my DH came in! LOL He said, "what ARE you doing"? All I had to say was, "my Cathe friends"! He gets it!
 
Hi everyone. I'm almost there: DAY 1 - NO COFFEE!!! I've done it before, I can do it again, right?!?! It's really the sugar that's the problem, not the coffee. Having a coffee protein shake in the morning really helps. I did really well today sticking to my meals and drinking lots of water.

Okay, I just got back from Girl Scouts with DD and I'm about to go downstairs and do BFL UB.

Hi Melissa!

Good job on sticking to your goal of less coffee!:) One thought....if you start getting weird headaches it could be from the lack of your caffine fix. Although you did say that you were having coffee in your protein shake so maybe it won't effect you like that.

Hey all!

Yes, it's late but I just finished PLB (still no lunges). My lower body was really aching this a.m., probably from yesterday's powerwalk. Kind of surprised me. So, I went back to bed for an hour. Now I'm finally getting on to say hi.

Sounds like you had some awesome workouts today! It does keep me so motivated to work harder.

I'm heading to bed now. Hope you all sleep tight and wake up energized for the day tomorrow!
