Beginner or Intermediate?

Hi, everyone. I recently purchased a small step from K-mart that came with a Cathe All Step video. This is how I heard about Cathe. I realize now, that Cathe's videos are for advanced exercisers. My question is how do you determine whether you are a beginner or an intermediate exerciser? And are there different levels in each category? I walk about 2 miles 5x a week for several years now and have done some weight training in the past. Everyone here seems to know so much that I was hoping that someone could help me decide where I currenly am at this time. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi!

I would say you are begginner/intermediate where cardiovascular fitness is concerned and begginner for weight training. Cathe is not too advanced even for a begginner, but you have to pay attention to how your body feels and MODIFY, MODIFY, MODIFY!!!! Learn how to do that and you should be fine! If you have been walking for 5 times per week the same mileage, it is time to step it up anyways!! Good Luck and WELCOME to the forums! Soon, you will be addicted!!!:)

Hey and welcome. That is how I found Cathe too!! Anyway All Step is hard. I would suggest if your going with DVD is Cardio Hits or Classic Volume 1, or if your going with VHS, then any one of the Cardio Hits or Classic Volume 1. It does take time to learn the moves, just keep pausing, pausing, pausing, and then you will get it.

Thanks for your responses. I really like the Allstep video. I still can't add the arm movements, but I'm starting to get the foot work! I'm so glad that I decided to get fit and found this forum. All you exercise buddies really help to keep me motivated. It helps to hear that you don't necessarily have to be an advanced exerciser to add Cathe videos to your rotation. :7

I've always thought that an advanced level exerciser is someone who knows how to maintain good form and how/when to modify for their own needs. Obviously an advanced exerciser is also someone who is very fit but I do believe that you can't be advanced if you're flinging your body and weights about, or exercising with a bent back, hunched shoulders and whatnot!
