Bank of America Credit Card Scam! Be careful!

Hello all,

:)

I have to share this very scary story of Identity Theft, and how it almost happened to me yesterday on email.

Bank of America sent me an email saying that there was "high activity" on my credit card account. This is strange because I do not do business with Bank of America.

It told me to click on a link and then sign in using my username and password. If you didn't have one, it asks you to create one.

NO WAY!

I called Bank of America and asked if anyone stole my social security number and set up a credit card under my name. Customer Service said no, and they told me to forward the email to [email protected]

So I did.

Come to find out today that it was a scam. It looked SO REAL. The scammers do a good job with these things. :(

It is called "phishing" online, and I never heard of it before yesterday. Also, this has never happened to me until now. They told me that someone was trying to get my personal info.

Very scary world we live in. DO NOT ever give out any online personal info about yourselves! If there was really a problem, they would have called you over the phone!

Please be careful!

:)

Yeah, you have to be so careful these days. My credit card account is with Citibank, and they have an identity theft program that I've already taken advantage of, and I've only had it about a year.

Be sure to check your credit reports from time to time, also. I found out someone had tried to obtain credit using my name.
