Band failure!

Bunbun

Cathlete
My band snapped in half right in the middle of the shoulder work in GS--my favorites, too! It only had a tiny little rip in the middle, but one pull and whap! I finished with 3 pound weights. I love band work.

Yikes, hope it didn't pop you.

Now, I will ask - did we learn a lesson here? Like, maybe, don't use a band with ANY tear or rip of ANY kind?;-)

Sorry, had to "scold" for your own good.

Had you had it for long? Where did you purchase it from? Mine snapped back at me when I didn't have it positioned properly. It slipped off my foot and smacked me in the face. OUCH!! Susan

I know it's mean but I just can't help but chuckle - the visual in my head is just way to funny! Sorry!}( :)

Heh, no, it didn't hit me at all. Just wound up wiht each half in my hand. I bought it at the local health food store. Going to go to a good sporting goods store tomorrow and get a new one. I've had the band since the Gym Styles came out--last year? It's had the tiny split in it for a long time--several months at least. I thought it might be a problem, but it seemed to be stable and not getting worse. Maybe I just pulled it the wrong way or something, but I guess the moral is don't use a band with a split on it. Though I worry more about my stability ball (which is burst resistant and in good shape, but I worry much more about that bursting).

I had to replace my green one just recently. Talked about this over on the Video/Dvd forum a couple weeks back. Mine had three small holes in it so I was on borrowed time and was afraid it would break at any time. I do tend to use the green one the most often but it still was only a year old. I think the tread on my shoes made the holes. I wear my shoes only for indoor workouts so they really don't get rubbed smooth like shoes you wear out...but who knows. Could also be from the uneven seams on the riser bottoms too.

Just replace them once that first hole starts. I got a new set of three at Amazon.com.

And I'm hearing Dr. Phil....

"So, you knew that hole was there but you kept on using that band anyway didn't you BunBun...how'd that work for ya?"

That is so freaky...the same thing happened to me last week!!ROFLMAO!! It just ripped right in two when I was doing High step challenge..I was like WTH???? LOLOLOLOL

I have had had it since I got the hardcore workouts, I would have thought it would have lasted longer than it did. I did not use it all that much, so I was surprised that it ripped like that.

Definitely!

And it's even a good idea to check the band before each workout to see if it looks thinner. And if it does, get a new one.

I've had mine since the Hardcores came out and it's still in great shape. To keep it from drying out they recommend you store the band in a plastic bag with a little baby powder in it.
