BAD reaction to Maltitol-Help!

Hello Everyone,

I normally try to stay away from maltitol because I've heard all the horror stories about the bad side effects. WELL...my DH has been following a moderately low carb diet for a few months (has lost 20# :) ). Yesterday he brought home some sugar free mint patties (my favorite) I ate them and man have I been ill ever since ;(

Any suggestions would be much appreciated to help get my stomach and digestive system back to normal.

I'm afraid you'll just have to wait until it's out of your system (which might be pretty quickly, if you know what I mean!). To help sooth your stomach, you could try some mint tea or ginger.

All of those "-itol" fake sweeteners are to be avoided, IMO. There are healthier ways to lose weight.
 
I agree with Kathryn. I just wanted to add, if you don't already know, that you should also be sure to avoid sorbitol.
