Appreciate Electrcity

Because when you don't have it life is hard. Iam one of the many Kansans that lost electricity due to the ice storm. I lost it between 1-3am Tuesday morning and it came back on Friday afternoon. I didn't have heat and the really bad thing I couldn't workout and I felt terrible. Fortunately for me I had family in down that didn't lose electricity so I had some place to stay and didn't have to eat out all the time. Now we have at least 3 inches of snow on the ground and it is still snowing.

Oh gosh, I bet that was awful! We have an ice storm heading our way, and I am nervous about losing the power!

Stock up on oil lamps and candles find some kind of heat that doesn't require electricity. I knew it was coming just didn't prepare very well. Find someplace to go with all your freezer stuff. Make sure you have lots of water and batteries for flashlights. We got lucky several states sent power companies out to get us back on line. There are still places without power and are being told it could be after x-mas.

Oh yes, I do appreciate it. When our power goes out, and that's about 2 or 3 times a year, we expect it to be out 8 hours at a time - give or take. We have a woodstove to heat the house and I've learned to be fairly creative cooking on it (invented woodstove lasagne). But one year, the power went out for 3 days. The worst part of that was lack of hot water. Personal hygene went out the window by day 3.

I laugh about it now. Washing yourself with a cold washcloth and letting your hair go unwashed made me feel so yucky!

Best of luck to you in the storms ahead!

Diane
