anyone work at a gym?

I filled out an application at a local gym for a front desk position. I'd really like to work there! I've always had retail or office jobs in the past, so I wanted to know what it's *like* to work at a gym (if I get the position). The person who does the interviewing will be in on Monday. I did the front desk thing during grad school. I loved it--it was so much fun socializing w/the members & getting to work out as before or after my shift. The free membership was an added bonus.

I always said if I won the lottery I'd either open my own club or, even better b/c much less responsibility, I'd work the front desk at a gym just for the fun of it.

I do wish you luck--it's a great job for people who love exercise!

AGREED! Gyms are the BEST places to work! No one will EVER give you crap about working out and/or healthy eating.

I worked at the front desk at a gym during college also. It was a lot of fun because you get to know all the members. The free membership is a great bonus. Also, back in the day, when I used to tan, the club had a tanning bed and I got to use it for free. I think I liked that best! LOL. Nowadays, I won't go near a tanning bed. Ahhh, to be 18 again!

Before I got married about 7 or 8 years ago I worked at the front desk at a gym and had a blast. One of the benefits was a gym membership so I took a variety of classes. I also was certified to teach step classes. It also was great for my social life!

I have a part time position in my gym's daycare room so I get my membership for free!

I am also studying to become a personal trainer.
