Regarding the other thread and you girls who had belly rings work their way out, how long did it take? I have had mine for 4-5 yrs now and I removed it for a year b/c I was pregnant, to my surprise it didn't grow over, probably b/c my stomach was stretching:confused: Just wondering, if your body rejects it, how long does it take. I admit my hole as gotten smaller but its been the same size for quit sometime. As for infections, I had a bad one first when I did it but I stuck it out and its been find ever since.

I also posted this question on the other thread but Im sure it got lost in the shuffle.
I am 30 yrs old and my daughter is almost 13. We booked a trip to FL for April 13th. We are also going with other friends, with small kids and another girl my daughters age. None of the other moms have their belly button pierced. Im wondering if I should remove mine for DD's sake? Im wondering if it will embarass her? Sometimes I think she as a hard time dealing with the fact that I am so young. She is always telling me I am to skinny (when Im not) or that I shouldn't be wearing some of the stuff I wear (when its just in style or pretty lame actually) Beleive me, I don't dress like a hushy...probably just more in style then some of the other moms she knows b/c they are all alot older then I am. Although...Im sure there are some pretty hip moms around this place...but lets face it, we aren't your average moms:D
Maybe I should just ask her, or get something smaller that no one will notice. No one gets to see it, only DH. My parents still don't know I have it done:confused::eek::)

13 is a tough age for girls and it would probably be a good idea to ask her what she thinks. As for the way you dress 30 is not old and you have the body to wear stylish clothes I wouldn't stop doing that, now me on the other hand I don't know what is appropriate wear for a 43 year old, so enjoy the fact that you can get away with what is in style. HTHS I have two DDs and they are 23, and 21 and they won't let me dress old.

i gotta say i hear this thing about body jewlery working its way out alot. now my eyebrow ring did just b/c of the density of the skin for me it didn't hold but i have had my belly ring for 12 years!! i only took it out when i was 4 months preggers and popped it right back in after i delivered. never worked its way out. i think it depends on your skin i have a little more cushion on the lower half so maybe that is why mine held so well. other then my eyebrow ring i chose to take most of my piercings out anyway.

with piercers one has to really do their homework. i knew the guys/gals that did mine b/c they were all good friends with my mom and lived by a strict set of practices when it came to tattooing and piercing. some are not so lucky.

as for wondering if you'll embarass the kids, my mom is pushing 59 and still has hers. we wear our weirdness proudly LOL.

I have two DSs. Mine have both said they loved growing up with young, hip parents. They comment on how the other mother's let themselves go, and look weathered. The only time my boys have been embarrassed is when their friends make comments that they think I'm pretty. Even though, they get embarrassed they admit they are proud.
I don't care what the other mother's think of me. Honestly, I was always getting looks just for being the young mother at school. Oh well. I can't change that!

Lori, have you considered wearing a one piece suit? I've worn conservative swim suits when the event was planned around my DSs friends and activities.

I never thought about wearing a one piece and I doubt that I will. Sunny weather isn't something that we get alot, in my neck of the woods, so I want to enjoy every last ray:D I would rather remove the ring, then put on a one peice:eek:
I think half of her issue is the fact that even though Im not "old" to her I am...I guess she will get it someday:)

And on the note of kids calling moms pretty, she was pretty rotted this year in junior high when all of the boys, kept coming up to her and telling her her mom was hot!:p I think they did it b/c they got a reaction out of her.

Oh well.....

Lori:)

I understand how you feel about the one piece. I guess I'm missing why it's embarrassing to have a belly ring?
I don't see how a belly ring is any less conservative than a bikini?

I dunno...I was just thinking that she may be she would be thinking..."why does my mom have that in" LOL And I could be totally wrong. She may be so use to it that she doesn't even notice it anymore. Not that I go around nude or anything;) but she as seen it a few times.
I think I will just leave it alone......just wondering what everyone else thought.

Lori:)
