Another ? for red wine drinkers :)

So...if you're just having one glass a day, what is the best way you have found to re-close the bottle? Room temperature red wine is so much yummier but do you refrigerate the bottle to keep the wine fresh or is it okay to leave it at room temperature? A glass of red wine is such a pleasure and if 5 oz./day of pinot noir is good for me then I'm all over it but it's gonna take almost a week to finish a bottle and I would like the last glass to be as good as the first:) TIA

We have never enjoyed the wine the next day. It does spoil fast when exposed to air even if it is recorked. If you check out the wine websites you can buy a special cover that extracts air out of the bottle to keep it fresher. Try Wine Enthusiasts on Google.

Hi Ladies!

I cork the wine once I open it, and I put it into the fridge.

With one glass a day, the wine is gone in one week.

Maybe it is not as fresh after opened and saved, but I am okay with it.

Maybe wine in a box (Eeeekkk!!! Gasp!!!!) I'm not a drinker of wine in a box, so I don't know, but I hear they've gotten better. Target sells a brand that supposed to be decent. There's not normally any leftover wine around this house!!! My hubby's aunt buys wine in a box - some big white box - and I really don't care for it, but its one of the brands that sells for like $3/bottle when its in a bottle. I've heard, but not seen, that Barefoot Wines and Yellow Tail are supposed be selling in boxes now, and I've always liked those out of a bottle, so maybe you might want to look into that. Just my suggestion!

I use the Vacuvin and it works like a charm. I only drink red wine and never put the open bottle in the refrigerator. If you use the Vacuvin, red stays fine at room temp for up to a week. White, which I only use for cooking, goes in the fridge.

Laurie- I have been using those Vacuvins for years and they are awesome!!! I have actually been able to leave an opened bottle of red on the counter for almost 2 weeks (only once or twice, though!;-) ) using them! I also like them because once they are in place and secured, I am able to put a bottle of white on its side in the fridge with no leakage!

Wow! That's a lot of Vacuvin endorsements...are you guys on commission?;-) :+ :D Well I got my 5 oz. in yesterday...then 5 more...then 5 more....then....oops}( :7
